| Vocabulary is the most basic part of English language learning.However,due to the traditional teaching method in junior high schools vocabulary teaching for a long time,the teaching effect is not efficient enough.Fortunately,the rapid development of information technology promotes the innovation of learning form.And mobile vocabulary application(APP)proves to be the latest product of information technology applied to language study,whose emergence has brought great convenience to English learners.Based on the theories of blended learning,constructivism learning and autonomous learning,this study applies Maimemo to English vocabulary teaching in order to verify the influence of mobile vocabulary APP on junior high school English vocabulary learning.Two parallel classes in Grade One of Liuzhou Tieyi Junior High School were chosen as the research subject in the two-week study.In the process of the experiment,Class 17 was the experimental group in which Maimemo was applied in their vocabulary teaching,while Class 20 was the control group in which the traditional vocabulary teaching method was used to teach vocabulary.Pre-test and post-test were conducted in the two classes,and questionnaire as well as interview were delivered to the students in the experimental class.All the data collected were analyzed with SPSS 22.0.The main work of this paper includes:(1)The self-study online and various interesting activities in the junior high school vocabulary teaching with Maimemo help to strengthen understanding and mastery of words,improve memory strategies of vocabulary and then promote the level of vocabulary for students.(2)The blended vocabulary teaching mode is good for arousing students’ interests in vocabulary learning with its flexible method and joyful situations in learning.(3)The blended vocabulary teaching mode contributes to improving students’ attitudes towards English vocabulary learning.Through the study,it is hoped to improve junior high school students’ English vocabulary learning and provide some useful suggestions for teachers of junior high schools in vocabulary teaching. |
