| This report is based on the onsite Chinese-English interpreting practice of Hongjitang Historical Museum Development Introduction in the international students’ research project of Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine.The consecutive interpreting task is entrusted by the International Institute of Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine.Taking the Interpretive Theory as guidance,the interpreter focuses on the application of this theory in listening,understanding and expression,highlights the practicability of the theory,and summarizes the strategies under the guidance of Interpretive Theory to improve the quality of interpreting.Based on the three steps in the triangular model of Interpretive Theory: comprehension,de-verbalization and reformulation,the interpreter tries to summarize seven interpreting strategies used in the interpreting practice.This report includes five chapters.Chapter One is task description,which includes an introduction to the interpreting task,features of the source text and the entruster’s requirements.Chapter Two is process description,which includes preparations,the interpreting process,assessment and reflection.Chapter Three is theoretical framework,which introduces the development and the triangle model of Interpretive Theory.Chapter Four is case analysis,which summarizes seven interpreting strategies: amplification,ellipsis,modification,conversion of word class,adjustment of word order,paraphrasing and summarizing in the three steps of comprehension,de-verbalization and reformulation.Chapter Five is conclusion,which summarizes the whole report,with emphasis on the role of Interpretive Theory in the interpreting practice and the interpreter’s gains,so as to provide experience for interpreters engaged in Traditional Chinese Medicine interpreting. |
