From the 1830 s to the beginning of the 20 th century,a group of excellent music composers have emerged in Russia.Most of their creative themes focus on the Russian nation.In their music works,they not only reflect the local customs and real life of Russia,but also reflect the strong national character,national desire and national spirit of the Russian people,In the history of western music,these composers are called Russian national music school.As one of the representatives of Russian national music school,Tchaikovsky's works involve various fields of music creation.In his creation,he combines Russian national music materials with western professional composing techniques,which makes his works extremely personalized and charming,and promotes Russian national music to the world.Dumka,created in 1886,is one of the most representative piano works in Tchaikovsky's later period.In the 19 th century,under the rule of the Czar,the Russian people were constantly suffering and suffering.In such a chaotic social environment,Tchaikovsky created the classic Dumka in pain and expectation.The emotion of the whole work alternates between melancholy and vigor.In his creative techniques,Tchaikovsky not only flexibly uses Russian traditional folk songs,but also constantly reveals the extraordinary charm of Russian national music elements,which vividly embodies the spirit of Russian nationalism.This paper is divided into three parts.The first part introduces Tchaikovsky's life and his main music works,as well as the creative background of "Dumka".Secondly,from the Russian folk songs,folk dances and folk musical instruments as the starting point,it analyzes the specific display of Russian folk music elements in "Dumka",and understands the embodiment of nationality contained in "Dumka";The second part,through the author's own performance experience of "Dumka",from the three points of melody,rhythm and the use of pedal,analyzes the performance of Russian national music elements in "Dumka",explores the innovation of the use of Russian national music elements in Tchaikovsky's works,and performs it;In the third part,the author selects Mikhail Pletnev and Zhao Chengzhen as the two pianists to compare their different versions,and finds out the similarities and differences of Russian folk music elements played by the two pianists,so as to better play the national elements of Russian music contained in Dumka.
