Since China's reform and opening up,along with economic development and the accelerating process of industrialization, the existing system of urban and rural areas has given rise to a special group,left-behind children,Into the 21st century,This group has attracted wide attention from all sectors of society because of its huge number, complex living conditions and physical and mental difficulties,left-behind children issues also gradually become a hot topic of mass media. The mass media, especially the network media, have shaped the media image of left-behind children and become an important channel for the public to know this group through the report of relevant information and the construction of the issue framework. The year 2020 marks the end of China's efforts to build a moderately prosperous society in all respects and fight against poverty. In the fight against poverty, the left-behind children are undoubtedly the focus of poverty alleviation and mental support work, and they are crucial to the future development of the country.Exploring the network media image of this group not only affects the public's understanding and evaluation of them, but also relates to the development process of China's harmonious society and well-off society. In this paper,697 reports on left-behind children from People's Daily Online and Sina.com from January 1,2016 to December 1,2020 were selected as the research samples, based on Guoren Zang's three-layer frame theory, this paper comprehensively uses quantitative analysis and text analysis to explore the characteristics of left-behind children's media images. At the same time, with its image as the breakthrough point, the author interviewed the left-behind children, class teachers, psychological counselors and others, and tried to reproduce the realistic image of this group. On this basis, this paper discusses the reasons for the differentiation of these two images, summarizes and reflects on some tendencies of network media, such as People's Daily and Sina,in reporting left-behind children. Also puts forward some suggestions,in order to help them more truly shape the media images of this group and create a media environment conducive to the growth and development of left-behind children.Through the research of this paper,it is found that the media images of left-behind children presented by People's Daily Online and Sina.com are not exactly the same as the realistic images of this group due to the specific political, economic and social contexts.Relevant reports mainly present two groups of image sets of left-behind children:One is the image of happy children who are loved by all walks of life;the other is the image of vulnerable groups and problem children in urgent need of social attention, the complex individual images of left-behind children are rarely presented.However,left-behind children are complex and diverse. They are sensitive and self-abasement,more self-disciplined and self-reliant,and have unlimited potential for growth.Based on the above studies, this paper holds that the image of left-behind children shaped by network media is mainly positive, but the core image tends to be negative;the image tends to be labeled, and the polarization trend is obvious;the group image is prominent, the dominant position is not obvious.Obviously, they failed to present the true image of this group objectively and comprehensively. In the end, some suggestions are put forward. For example, the left-behind children should be given the right to speak and their dominant position should be strengthened.Strengthen the social responsibility of network media and guard against the tendency of "stigmatization";pay attention to policy news tracking and feedback reports, pay attention to the growth of left-behind children.
