As a special form of painting,comics have always been loved by people because of their unique humor.As a kind of image historical materials,historical cartoons can be divided into three types: political cartoons,current affairs cartoons,and propaganda cartoons,which can well stimulate students' interest in learning history and activate the atmosphere of classrooms.Historical cartoons are a kind of teaching resources that are both interesting and meaningful.Whether they are in the proposition of history test questions or in classroom application,they are getting more attention from people.Especially in the teaching of modern Chinese history,making good use of historical cartoons can help students improve their ability to observe and solve problems,and cultivate their ability to think about history.However,after investigating the application,it is found that the utilization rate of cartoons in actual teaching is not high,the way teachers obtain cartoons is too simple,and the sources of students' understanding of historical cartoons are also very few.In the selection of historical comics,the principles of the times,pertinence,and education should be followed;when using,the principles of clarifying the background of the comics,excavating the meaning of the comics,and paying attention to the mutual verification of historical materials.This set of books "The Lost History of China in the West" is mainly based on the major pictorial newspapers published in Europe and other countries in modern history,such as the French "Little Daily","The Pictorial" and the British "London News Illustrated" and so on.A large number of cartoons and some photos were published in Western newspapers and magazines in the last century,and the image materials of that era were compared and comprehensively displayed from different fields in the late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China.with imagination.There are many historical cartoons in the book that are closely related to the knowledge points of high school history textbooks.In the practice of specific history teaching cases,it has indeed stimulated students' interest in learning and aroused students' observation and thinking,but it is necessary to pay attention to: Teachers should pay more attention to historical cartoons,select historical cartoons around the teaching theme,change their teaching ideas of historical cartoons,make rational use of cartoon materials,and pay attention to critical use.
