With the deepening of the new curriculum reform,mathematical inquiry activities have gradually been valued in the fields of primary and secondary school teaching and educational research."Inquiry and Discovery" column of high school mathematics textbook of People's Education Press(A edition),as one of the main manifestations of the field of mathematical inquiry activities,is an extension and expansion of mathematical knowledge.It is also important for the development of students' mathematical inquiry ability and rational thinking.This article first analyzes the content of the "Inquiry and Discovery" column of high school mathematics textbook of People's Education Press(A edition),and then uses the questionnaire method to investigate the current use and the teaching situation of the "Inquiry and Discovery" column.Then a class in the practiced school is selected to carry out the teaching of the " Inquiry and Discovery " column and its teaching cases are analyzed.Then the teachers and students are interviewed to learn more about what students and teachers think about the "Inquiry and Discovery" column.The relevant teaching suggestions are put forward on this basis in the end.This paper draws the following main conclusions:1.The types of materials in the "Inquiry and Discovery" column of high school mathematics textbook of People's Education Press(A edition)are relatively rich.The textbook attaches the greatest importance to the supplement and expansion of the knowledge of the main text,and also pays more attention to the students' mastery of thinking methods and the penetration of mathematical culture.2.Most teachers have a positive attitude towards the "Inquiry and Discovery" column of high school mathematics textbook of People's Education Press(A edition),but the frequency of teachers using the "Inquiry and Discovery" column is not high.3.There are difficulties in the teaching of the "Inquiry and Discovery" column.Although the vast majority of teachers affirm the value of the "Inquiry and Discovery" column,it is difficult to carry out the teaching of the " Inquiry and Discovery " column.Through the collection and analysis of data,it is found that the factors that affect the teaching of teachers in the "Inquiry and Discovery" column are mainly in the following aspects:(1)The content of the "Inquiry and Discovery" column is rarely covered in the exam syllabus;(2)The "Inquiry and Discovery" column puts forward higher requirements for teachers and students because of its strong inquiry,theoretical and comprehensive nature;(3)At present,teachers have a heavy teaching task,and if the teaching of the "Inquiry and Discovery" column is carried out,it will affect the teaching progress.4.Teachers and students affirmed the teaching of " Inquiry and Discovery ".The teaching of the "Inquiry and Discovery" column should be student-centered,allowing students to experience the process of inquiry,focusing on cooperative inquiry,and teaching should be combined with information technology.The suggestions put forward in this paper including:(1)Teachers should correctly understand the value of the "Inquiry and Discovery" column and make full use of the content of the " Inquiry and Discovery " column to play its educational function;(2)The teaching of the " Inquiry and Discovery " column should make full use of information technology and enrich teaching methods;(3)Teaching should be student-centered,and teaching links should be operable,and more links of self-inquiry and cooperative inquiry should be opened.
