The western region of China bears the important responsibility of building the Silk Road Economic Belt.However,the problems of high energy consumption and high emissions caused by the extensive development of its manufacturing industry hinder the process of carbon emission reduction in the western region.Technological innovation provides a source of power and support for low-carbon development and promotes the sustainable development of low-carbon development system economy,energy and environment.Therefore,it is of great significance to study the coupling coordination effect of manufacturing technological innovation and low-carbon development in the western region to promote the regional economy towards high-quality development.This paper takes 11 provinces in western China as the research object.Under the support of system coupling theory,combined with the coupling coordination interaction mechanism of technological innovation and low-carbon development,this paper analyzes the current situation of manufacturing technology innovation and low-carbon development in western China.By constructing the evaluation index system of coupling coordination of two systems,using the coupling coordination model to measure and analyze the coupling coordination effect of technological innovation and low-carbon development in the western manufacturing industry in 2008-2020,and using ArcGIS and GeoDa to visually analyze the spatial and temporal evolution characteristics of coupling coordination,and further combining the exploratory spatial data analysis(ESDA)to test the spatial dependence of coupling coordination,Then the interactive response of the two systems is analyzed through the panel vector autoregression(PVAR),and the regional fixed-effect spatial Durbin model(SDM)is used to study the impact of five driving factors,namely,economic development level,industrial agglomeration,enterprise size,environmental regulation intensity,and population distribution,on the coupling coordination of technological innovation and lowcarbon development in the western manufacturing industry.The research shows that the following are listed.firstly,the manufacturing technology innovation and low carbon development and the coupling coordination of the two systems in the western region of China show a steady growth,but the technology innovation lags behind the low carbon development level,realizing the transition from mild imbalance to intermediate coordination stage,and has reached the intermediate coordination stage.Secondly,the coupling coordination of the two systems have significant spatial differences,and the development level has gradually decreased from the western center to the outside,presenting a"divergent" spatial distribution pattern,basically forming a highly coordinated development of Shaanxi,Sichuan and Chongqing provinces to the central zone radiating from both sides,leading the surrounding provinces and cities to achieve a good transition from basic coordination to moderate coordination.Thirdly,the coupling coordination of the two systems has a positive spatial dependence that has been increasing year by year,and has formed an obvious high value cluster area in southwest China and a low value cluster area in northwest China.Fourthly,there is a mutual promotion relationship between technological innovation and low-carbon development.Low-carbon development is mainly affected by its own impact in the early stage,and mainly depends on the contribution of technological innovation in the later stage,while the development of technological innovation is mainly affected by its own impact before and after.Fifthly,the level of economic development,industrial agglomeration degree,and environmental regulation stringency will promote the coupling coordination development level of technological innovation and low-carbon development in the western manufacturing industry,but the scale of enterprise development will hinder the improvement of the coupling coordination development level,and the population distribution has no significant effect on the coupling coordination;Finally,according to the current situation of the development of the western region and the conclusions of the coupling coordination research,it is proposed to strengthen the endogenous impetus of enterprise technological innovation by strengthening policy support,creating an active innovation environment,and building a diversified cooperation network,to develop regional demonstration overflow effect by formulating differentiated promotion policies,improving the efficiency of resource allocation and reasonably controlling the size of enterprises;to promote the coordinated development of western manufacturing technology innovation and low-carbon development system by strengthening industrial agglomeration,improving environmental regulation efficiency,and reasonably adjusting energy structure,so as to achieve high-quality development of green economy in western China. |
