The influence of environmentally specific transformational leadership on employee green behavior has attracted much attention from the academic community,but there are inconsistent conclusions in the literature.In order to further reveal the relationship and mechanism between environmental transformational leadership and employee green behavior,this study used meta-analysis to investigate the relationship between them based on the samples of 49 studies,54 effect sizes and 14586 participants.The study discusses the potential moderating factors between them and explores the mediating role of green selfefficacy,environmental passion and green internal motivation from the cognitive,emotional and motivational perspectives.The research results show that environmentally specific transformational leadership has a significant positive correlation with employee green behavior.Green self-efficacy,environmental passion and green internal motivation play a mediating role in the relationship between environmentally specific transformational leadership and employee green behavior.In addition,horizontal and longitudinal research designs have significant moderating effects on the relationship between them,that is,the relationship between environmentally specific transformation leadership and employee green behavior is stronger in the cross-sectional study design.However,power distance orientation does not play a role in moderating the relationship between them,that is,different power distance orientation cultures will not affect the effectiveness of environmentally specific transformation leadership on employee green behavior;Individualism/collectivism does not play a regulatory role in the relationship between the two,that is,environmentally specific transformational leadership under individualism and collectivism culture has the same effect on employee green behavior;The environmentally specific transformational leadership scale fail to moderate the relationship between environmentally specific transformational leadership and employee green behavior.The above conclusions not only promote the theoretical research on the relationship between environmentally specific transformational leadership and employee green behavior,but also have important implications for promoting the practice of environmental performance management in enterprises.
