Due to the worsening ecological environment,green development has become the main topic of concern from all walks of life.Green innovation strategy has become the core of enterprises to fulfill their social environmental responsibility and pursue success in the development of low-carbon economy.As the main object of carbon emission,manufacturing enterprises are under increasing pressure from the society and the market,and are in urgent need of realizing green transformation.Employees’ green innovation behavior is the starting point of enterprises’ green innovation activities,and the efficient implementation of green innovation strategy ultimately depends on employees’ green innovation behavior.Therefore,it is of great significance for manufacturing enterprises to implement green development how to reasonably develop the green innovation thinking and improve the green innovation level of all employees.As employees` green innovation behaviors is a kind of innovation behavior,leadership is naturally considered as an significant factor of employees` green innovation behaviors.In recent years,many scholars began to research a new leadership style--environmental transformational leadership.However,relevant research results on the correlation between environmental transformational leadership and employees’ green innovation behaviors as well as their internal influencing mechanism have not been formed,and need to be supplemented and expanded.Therefore,for the sake of search the correlation between the two,this study trys to build a theoretical model of the impact of environmental transformational leadership(ETL)on employees’ green innovation behaviors(EGIB).Social exchange theory and Social information processing are adopted,and green organization identity(GOI)and environmental commitment(EC)are introduced as the mediating variables.Supervisor`s organizational embodiment(SOE)as a moderating variable to explore the internal mechanism between environmental transformational leadership and employees’ green innovation behavior.This study collected valid data from 297 employees in the manufacturing industry through questionnaire survey.The results show that(1)environmental transformational leadership positively affects employees’ green innovation behaviors,(2)GOI mediate the positive relationship between environmental transformational leadership and employees’ green innovation behaviors,(3)green organization identity mediate the positive relationship between environmental transformational leadership and employees’ green innovation behaviors,(4)the path of green organization identity-environmental commitment mediates the positive relationship between environmental transformational leadership and employees’ green innovation behaviors,(5)supervisor`s organizational embodiment positively moderates the indirect effect of environmental transformational leadership on employees’ green innovation behaviors through green organization identity and environmental commitment,and supervisor`s organizational embodiment moderates the indirect effect of environmental transformational leadership on employees’ green innovation behavior through the path of green organization identity-environmental commitment.The results enrich the research on environmental transformational leadership and employees’ green innovation behaviors,and clarify the mechanism and boundary conditions of environmental transformational leadership on employees’ green innovation behaviors,and expand the theoretical application of supervisor`s organizational embodiment as a moderating variable.The results have implications for manufacturing enterprises effectively stimulate employees’ green innovation behaviors,and finally realize the green transformation of manufacturing enterprises.
