Due to the occupational characteristics of saving lives and helping the wounded in the medical industry,health-care workers have a large workload, have to face diseases and patients, have a large workload, face diseases and patients, bear huge pressure, and have serious work energy loss. Therefore, based on the theory of emotional events, considered both the positive and negative aspects of work energy(integrating vitality and exhaustion into work energy),this study explored the relationship of nurses between challenging and hindering work stress and work energy, and further explored the role of emotional experience(emotional valence, emotional arousal)in it.This study obtained valid data from 280 nurses in a hospital in Northwest China, and collected data by empirical sampling method after the subjects got off work for 7 consecutive days.We test hypothesis by multilevel linear regression equation, and obtain the following results:(1)Challenging stressor was not significantly correlated with emotional arousal and exhaustion, but significantly positively correlated with emotional valence and vigor;hindrance stressor was significantly positively correlated with emotional arousal and exhaustion, not significantly associated with vigor, and significantly negatively correlated with emotional valence.Emotional arousal was significantly positively correlated with exhaustion, and significantly negatively correlated with vigor;emotional valence was significantly negatively correlated with exhaustion, and significantly positively correlated with vigor.(2)The mediating effect of emotional experience was significant in the hindrance stressor-energy pathway;the mediating effect of emotional arousal was not significant in the challenge stressor-energy pathway;the mediating effect of emotional valence was significant in the challenge stressor-vigor,and the mediating effect in the challenge stressor-exhaustion was not significant. In conclusion, this study concluded that challenge stressor can stimulate work energy and increase nurse vigor;hindrance stressor can deplete work energy and increase nurse exhaustion.hindrance stressor can affect work energy through emotional experience(emotional arousal, emotional valence),and challenge stressor can affect vigor through emotional valence. In addition, the mediating effect was compared and it was found that in the relationship between hindrance stressor and exhaustion, the effect size of emotional valence was greater than that of emotional arousal, while the effect of emotional arousal was greater than that of emotional valence in the relationship between hindrance stressor and vigor. In the end, this paper puts forward some suggestions on coping with the pressure of nurses from the aspects of individual nurses, hospital management and social support. |
