| Objective: The objective of this study is to prospectively and randomly control the investigation of the effectiveness and safety of combining Chinese medicine with auricular acupuncture. The study aims to establish a foundation for clinical promotion by utilizing the integrated therapy of Ziyin Guyang Yin and auricular acupuncture to intervene in the treatment of primary hypertension characterized by Yin deficiency and Yang hyperactivity syndrome. Methods: Over a 10-month period spanning from December 2021 to October2022,the Cardiology Department of Changchun Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine admitted 72 patients with primary hypertension who exhibited TCM evidence of yin deficiency and yang hyperactivity, selected based on nadir criteria. These patients were subsequently randomized and numbered using SPSS21.0-generated random numbers, with 36 patients allocated to both the treatment and control groups. The control group received oral administration of 30 mg nifedipine controlled-release tablets once daily in the morning, while the treatment group received a combination of Ziyin Guyang Yin and auricular acupuncture in addition to the oral administration of western medicine, and the clinical efficacy was monitored over a period of four weeks.Results:(1)Prior to treatment,a comparison of the fundamental data and pre-treatment indices of patients in the control and treatment groups was conducted, and statistical analysis revealed that the difference between the groups was not significant and could be considered comparable,as indicated by P>0.05.(2)Blood pressure level:Following a four-week treatment period, both the treatment and control groups exhibited a significant decrease in systolic and diastolic blood pressure levels compared to their respective pre-treatment levels.Additionally, the 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure results demonstrated a decrease in mean systolic and diastolic blood pressure compared to pre-treatment levels.Statistical analyses conducted within and between groups before and after treatment revealed significant differences(P<0.05).The results indicate that the total effective rate of office blood pressure was 97% for the treatment group and88% for the control group, while the total effective rate of ambulatory blood pressure was 97% for the treatment group and 94% for the control group. These findings suggest that the hypotensive effect of the treatment group was superior to that of the control group.(3)Chinese medicine symptoms:Following a four-week treatment period, the control group demonstrated significant alleviation of vertigo, headache, and insomnia symptoms(P<0.05).However,the symptoms of lumbar soreness, knee weakness, irritable heat in the five hearts, tinnitus, and forgetfulness due to yin deficiency were not significantly alleviated in comparison to pre-treatment levels(P>0.05).The results indicate that the treatment group exhibited statistically significant differences(P<0.01)in the alleviation of primary symptoms, including vertigo, headache, lumbar soreness, knee weakness, and heartburn,as well as some secondary symptoms, such as palpitation, insomnia, and tinnitus. However,no significant improvement in amnesia symptoms was observed in either group(P>0.05).Further statistical analysis revealed that, with the exception of vertigo, headache, and amnesia symptoms, the remaining symptoms exhibited significant differences between the treatment and control groups(P<0.05),with the treatment group exhibiting superior outcomes.(4)Quality of life:After treatment, the quality of life scale for individuals with Duchenne hypertension improved in both groups, with statistically significant differences observed between the treatment and control groups(P<0.05).Notably,the treatment group exhibited superior outcomes compared to the control group. Conclusion:The combination of traditional Chinese medicine and auricular acupuncture has been found to have a superior intervention effect compared to western medicine alone in treating hypertension. This treatment approach has demonstrated significant improvement in TCM symptoms associated with Yin deficiency and Yang hyperactivity evidence,as well as enhancing the quality of life of patients with a high level of safety. Therefore,it is recommended for further promotion. |
