As the main undertaker of international Chinese language education and teaching to spread the excellent traditional culture,the teaching level of international Chinese teachers is the key to decide the quality of Chinese teaching.After long-term traditional offline teaching,international Chinese teachers have formed a basic Chinese teaching model.However,online teaching has new requirements for international Chinese teachers.In the new online teaching environment,not all international Chinese teachers are competent to undertake online Chinese teaching.Based on the competency theory,this study analyzes the competency characteristics of international Chinese teachers in online teaching,so as to promote the development of international Chinese teachers to become excellent talents in this field.This study uses the methods of questionnaire and interview to make a detailed and rigorous analysis of the teaching situation of online international Chinese teachers in online teaching.Firstly,278 International Chinese teachers who are conducting online Chinese teaching are investigated by questionnaire.Through the statistical analysis of the teaching situation of international Chinese teachers in online teaching,this paper summarizes the competency of online international Chinese teachers as follows: they are more competent in personal characteristics,professional attitude and professional development;Solid mastery of subject knowledge,good professional skills and good competence in cross-cultural communication;The application skills of network teaching need to be improved.In order to further understand the situation,in-depth interviews were conducted with 6 International Chinese teachers in online teaching.The competency characteristics of international Chinese teachers in online teaching are summarized as follows: effective teaching interaction ability,humorous personal characteristics,serious and rigorous professional attitude and good career planning ability.However,there are also some difficulties: difficulties in the organization and management of online classroom,lack of online teaching experience,lack of online teaching resources,and poor practicability of online teaching platform.According to the summary and statistical analysis of the survey results of international Chinese teachers’ online teaching,this paper puts forward the cultivation path of international Chinese teachers’ competence in online teaching: consolidate the professional basic knowledge,clarify the online classroom management rules,establish and improve the training system,strengthen the exchange of teachers’ online teaching experience,strengthen international education cooperation,develop high-quality online teaching resources,innovate and optimize the teaching platform,and help the professional growth of international Chinese teachers.We hope to improve the online teaching level of international Chinese teachers and promote the vigorous development of international Chinese education.
