| Chinese language teaching in Nigeria took shape and flourished at the beginning of the 21 st century.As China’s international influence continues to expand,the demand for Chinese language education continues to grow.Nigeria’s diverse make-up of Chinese language students,led to the diversity in teaching objectives.In order to address the different teaching objectives in Chinese language studies,various teaching methods were introduced.Language is a tool for communication.For international students,the purpose of studying a target language is to learn how to communicate effectively within the cultural environment where the target language is being used,thereby,strengthening their communication ability.In order to achieve this purpose,it is necessary to be familiar and adapt to the grammar and pragmatic rules of the target language,and maintaining appropriate speech and behavior during communication.The performed culture teaching method not only promotes quick understanding of the cultural information conveyed and expressed by the target language,but also improves the learners cross-cultural communication ability.It is a comprehensive and effective teaching method that integrates other teaching methods.This study attempts to apply the Performed Culture teaching method in Nigeria Chinese classroom.The main objects of study are the students in the intermediate class of Oko Confucius Classroom.To examine their cross-cultural communication ability and their knowledge of Chinese culture,a scale was designed.First,questionnaire survey method was adopted to collect the expression and views of native Chinese speakers(students).Through investigation,analysis and summary obtained their opinions and approval on a set of test questions.Through the survey results,developed,improved and standardized “ The scale of language behavioral culture knowledge test”used in this study.This paper combed through the basic concepts of Performed Culture teaching method,and fully reflected on the characteristics of this teaching method.After a comparative analyses and summary of the application of the Performed Culture Approach of Oko students and Nigerian international students,teaching strategies were put forward,under this study,a feasible “performed culture”teaching plan was designed,teaching courses were organized and held for a period of time,feedback and evaluation information of the teaching course was collected,progress and problems encountered during the course of the study were analyzed and summarized.Finally,it was concluded that Improving the hardware equipment in the classrooms;Increasing the number of teachers;Taking full advantage of the characteristics of“participation and interaction”of the performed culture method;Designing course content that conform with the students’ interests etc.can improve the efficiency of the use of Perform Culture Approach in Chinese language classroom.The research in accordance with overall reflection and summation of teaching experience on this research,further adjustments and optimization were initiated on the teaching strategies and methods,providing a reference material for Chinese education in Nigeria. |
