| Against the background of the rapid development of the world economy, countries have made remarkable achievements in the field of science and technology. The enhancement of scientific and technological strength cannot be achieved without exchanges and mutual learning between different industries. In this process, the translation of scientific literature plays an important role.Scientific and technological literature covers a wide range of fields, including electronic information, aerospace, biological medicine and so on.These technologies have accelerated the progress of human society and provided convenience for people’s life.In recent years, the achievements and technological breakthroughs in the medical field have become a topic and concern in the international situation of the serious spread of epidemic, and the demand for medical technology exchanges between China and western countries is increasing gradually. Therefore,it is of great practical significance to study the translation of medical texts. At the same time, medical translation,as a kind of intercultural communication, also plays an important role as a medium and bridge in promoting the development of medical technology. This report mainly studies the translation of drug regulatory reports during the author’s practice period. It is based on the functional equivalence translation theory by Eugene·A·Nida. The software Trados is used as a translation aid tool. This report is mainly carried out from five aspects, including the main task of this translation, the main steps of the translation process, the content of the translation theory and the application of the translation theory. In the fourth chapter,a case study is conducted to summarize the translation skills and methods. The text features of medical texts is analyzed in the translation practice. What’s more, the problems and solutions in translation from the lexical, syntactic and discourse levels are analyzed. At the lexical level,it mainly discusses the translation methods of medical professional terms and abbreviations. At the syntactic level,it mainly explores the translation of passive sentences and long and complicated sentences in medical texts. At the discourse level, this report mainly explores the cohesion and coherence of discourse in translation.Through this study, the author found that functional equivalence theory is universally applicable to drug regulatory report translation.Under the guidance of the theory of functional equivalence,in the translation of professional terms and abbreviations, the method of transforming parts of speech and zero translation could be used to handle the corresponding problems. For the translation of the passive voice, the method of voice conversion can be adopted. For the translation of long and difficult sentences, the division and combination translation method is adopted to achieve functional equivalence at the syntactic level. At the level of discourse, cohesion and coherence need to be considered to achieve equivalence at the level of discourse.Through this translation practice, the translator has summarized some translation rules in order to provide reference for the subsequent translation of relevant medical texts. |
