| With the globalization of technology and information, scientific English text has become a common text type in translation practice. In recent years, due to the over-exploitation and destruction of the earth by human beings, extreme climate disasters occur frequently, and climate crisis has already become a global strategic issue.Faced with this severe challenge,EST translation is an important way for countries around the world to communicate, learn and solve problems together. This translation practice selects some chapters of Regeneration: Ending the Climate Crisis in One Generation as translation materials. The original text is a work on solving the climate crisis written by Paul Hawken, which is a typical scientific English text with complicated contents and rigorous structure. This report is mainly divided into four parts: task description, translation process, case analysis and practice summary,of which case analysis is the key part.Guided by Skopos Theory and combined with specific case analysis, the author summarizes and concludes the problems encountered in the translation process and the solutions from the lexical level and syntactical level. At the lexical level, there are some methods such as part-of-speech conversion and word meaning extension, and at the syntactical level, there are passive voice translation, sequential translation and reorganization translation. The purpose of this report is to analyze the characteristics and linguistic forms of scientific English texts and find suitable translation methods. In addition to improving the translator’s level,it also provides a series of references for scientific English translation, hoping to play a certain role in the future study of the same type of text. |
