ABST RACT At the beginning of the last century, the process of the. cold roll forming has started to be applied. Today, the products have been widely used in many industrial areas, such as construction, automobile, aviation, light industry, machinery and machinery manufacture. As the quality improved, the pipes are used more widely. The development direction is that the thick wall pipes will be instead of the seamless steel pipes, and the corresponding mills have been born one after another and gone into operation. The modem new roll forming pipe systems remedy some defects of the traditional mills. They have lots of advantages such as meeting the productive in varied products, short time at changing the rollers, flexible and convenient adjustment, steady forming process and high qualities, etc. So, the study and development on flexible forming pipe system is always main tends in the pipes forming technology. The explore on the forming process and law of pipes with complicit geometric nonlinearity, material nonlinearity and contact boundary is not only the key of modern rolling mill design but also a practical significance topic. First of all, the paper has introduced and evaluated the development and research of roll forming pipe technology, forming theory, computer simulation of forming process and visualization technology in the world. The method of elastic-plastic large deformation spline finite strip based on updated Lagrangian method has been further perfected and the corresponding calculation formula has been updated; The flow model has been established and has the 揻low?character to simulate the strip forming process in rollers. The all process of roll forming has been simulated for the first time; Compared with the old segment model, the qualitative analysis on error is provided and the calcualtional results well coincides with experimental results in relational document. Aimed at the different parameters, the systematic study on the roll forming process has been got and the general law was provided. The simulation results will guide practical production and modem roll pass design. In the paper, the Object-Oriented Programming method has been introduced to large numeral simulation calculation. The calculational part is enveloped in form 揷lass?and the program is easy to maintain and modify because the level of modularization is improved. Under VC++, the user interface is friendly and the display ofcakulalinn process, analyze of simulation result by curves or surfaces are realized as OpenGL is introduced. The some 桰I? new methods have been used in order to ensure the safe and extensive application of program. In brief, the flow model and method of elastic-plastic large deformation spline finite strip based on U.L. are been testified efficiently and correctly. Combined visualization technology, not only the design of roll forming system is convenient but also the experimental cost and design risk are reduced. The model and method provide theory basis of science analyze for modem design.
