In order to avoid the hydrolysis of reactive dye and at same time to keep its good wet treatment characteristics, as well as to overcome shortcomings of crosslinking dyes, the crosslinking polymeric dye was proposed. It was prepared by grafting the chromophore onto the reactive polymer. This structure not only improved fixation ratio of dye, but also prevented the chromophore from colour changes during crosslinking dyeing.Polyacrylamide with relatively low polymer degree was prepared in aqueous solution by use of (NH^SaOg-NaHSO3. The effects of the concentration of monomer and the mole ratio of initiator to monomer on polymerization degree of polyacrylamide were discussed.Polyvinylamine chlorides with different amination degree were prepared from polyacrylamide and NaOCl through the Hofmann degradation. Factors that affect the degree of amination, i.e, mass percent of polyacrylamide, the mole ratio of NaOCl to polyacrylamide, NaOH to polyacrylamide (first step), NaOH to polyacrylamide (second step), and reaction time, were studied. The amination degree of polyvinylamine was determined by both colloid titration and electroconductivity titration. The result showed that the relative error between those two methods was not more than 2%.Result of thermogravity analysis showed that the thermal stability of polyvinylamine chloride lowers with increasing in amination degree. Moreover, properties of dilute aqueous solutions of three types of poly(vinylamine) chloride with different amination degree were compared by use of viscosimetric, conductometric, and potentiometric measurements. Results showed that both the electrostatic interaction of neighboring groups on the chain and the reduced viscosity of poly(vinylamine) chloride are increased with increasing the degree of amination of poly(vinylamine). The equivalent conductivity is decreased with the increasing the concentration of poly(vinylamine) chloride and increased with the increasing the amination degree of poly(vinylamine). The red crosslinking polymeric dyes were synthesized with use of reactive red X - 3B and polyvinylamine prepared from the Hofmann degradation of polyacrylamide. The maximum wave length (X max) was 522nm. The effects of temperature, the concentration of amino groups and the pH value on the yield of red crosslinking polymeric dye were discussed. The results showed that the utilization ratio of polymer reached 100% and the conversion of reactive red X-3B was more than 99% determined by TLC.The yellow crosslinking polymeric dyes were synthesized with use of 2.4 -dinitrochlorobenzene and polyvinylamine prepared from the Hofmann degradation of polyacrylamide. The maximum wave length( X max) was 352nm. The effects of temperature, the concentration of amino group, the mole ratio of 2.4 -dinitrochlorobenzene to amino group and the mole ratio of Na2COs to amino group on the yield of yellow crosslinking polymeric dye were discussed. The results showed that the utilization ratio of polymer reached 100% and the conversion of 2.4 -dinitrochlorobenzene was more than 99% determined by colourmetry. The blue crosslinking polymeric dyes were synthesized with use of leucoquinizarin and polyvinylamine prepared from the Hofmann degradation of polyacrylamide. The maximum wave length( X max) was 597nm. The effects of temperature, the concentration of amino group, the pH value and the mole ratio of leucoquinizarin to amino group on the yield of red crosslinking polymeric dye were discussed. The results showed that the utilization ratio of polymer reached 100% and the conversion of leucoquinizarin was more than 99% determined by TLC.With use of COST and DAST as fixation agent, the dyeing characteristics on silk and cotton was studied through padding operation. The fixation ratio of the crosslinking polymeric dyes reached higher than 99%. The water-fastness, wash-fastness, rub-fastness and light-fastness of yellow crosslinking polymeric dyes reached 4-5 grade , 4~5 grade, 4 grade and 3^4 grade respectively. The water-fastness, wash-f...
