Soybean fiber (SBF) is a new type of fiber that is studied, opened up independently and produced commercially by the Chinese specialists. It is first-class in the world. The production of SBF is listed in the National Torch Plans and is helped and supported significantly by the central government. Therefore it is very important that the properties of SBF are researched to lay the foundation for spinning, weaving, knitting, dying, designs and use of clothing. In the same way, it is also very important that the theories on fabrics and fabric models with comfortable functions are studied to produce knitted fabrics good in quality and with comfortable functions.In this thesis, the properties of SBF, the model of the differential capillary affect of fabrics, the model of wet permeability of yarns and knitted fabrics, the model of yarns with quick wet permeability function are emphasized. In the same way, water-retention properties of fabrics, the compound knitted fabrics of SBF and other fibers are emphasized or taken as the focal points of research.Through the study of comfortable and functional properties of SBF, the properties of good wet permeability, excellent vapor transmission, soft hand, good warmth retention, and silk-like gloss are revealed.Through setting up the model of differential capillary effect of fabrics, the factors to affect the functions of the model are analyzed in detail and the optimum parameters are discussedand given quantitatively, at last the optimum functions of the model are achieved. This work is the most important and also creative in the thesis. Meanwhile through progressive study about the model, the other conditions to form the differential capillary action are also revealed, including yarn twists, fabric densities, yarn diameters, yarn stretches and cross-sectional configurations of fibers besides fiber diameters.With the help of the principle of the differential capillary action, the fiber, non-woven and film models with high wet permeability functions are creatively presented, that will lay the foundation for designs of fibers, non-woven and films with high wet permeability functions in theory.Through establishing the models of wet permeability of yarns and knitted fabrics, the factors to affect their wet permeability functions are presented and discussed, finally the affection of changes of the factors on wet permeability functions is qualitatively pointed out. This is also a newly developed viewpoint. At the same time this model is also used to guide the optimum designs of differential capillary action fabrics.Through establishing the models of yarns with quick wet permeability function, how to design yarns with good functions is creatively presented.Through the study of water-retention property of fabrics, the conditions for sweat not to flow back into the internal layers of fabrics from the external layers of fabrics are creatively presented, which can be used to solve the problems in designs of fabrics.Through the designs, knitting, testing of the compound knitted fabrics of SBF and other fibers, the properties of wet permeability, vapor transmission and warmth-retention ofIVinterlacing fabrics are analyzed. Especially the differential capillary action fabrics with high wet permeability function and the fabric with both high wet permeability function and high vapor transmission function are proved practical.
