Nowadays,the heavy work and study makes people more and more inseparable from the study,the study furniture which has the dual attributes of culture and function insinuates a way of design from the traditional to the present.Ancient furniture related to the study was recorded with the names as wooden bed,table,writing desk in the poems and articles in the Tang and Song Dynasty.In Ming Dynasty,which is the most glorious period in the history of furniture development,like the arm-chair,official hat chair,rosewood book case,shelf and other unique national charm of the Suzhou-style furniture are the most familiar to us.As a kind of Suzhou-style furniture came out from literati's study,its simple shapes,precise structures,elegant materials and simple decorations are typical representatives of Chinese traditional furniture.However,as the society progresses and people's aesthetic tastes change,they have a certain impact on the continuation of the traditional Suzhou-style furniture.But the new Chinese-style study furniture which combines the contemporary new materials,new technologies and new ideas with the traditional furniture of our country has attracted the attention to consumers.This shows that it is very necessary to inherit and innovate the Suzhou-style furniture in Ming Dynasty.This paper mainly takes the style characteristics of the Suzhou-style furniture in Ming Dynasty that as the core,seeks change in the traditional elements,constructs the new Chinese-style study furniture design frame.First of all,it analyzes the background of the times,the types of the study furniture and the style characteristics of the Suzhou-style furniture in Ming Dynasty.Then this paper sums up the significance of the styles of the Suzhou-style furniture in Ming Dynasty,such as“simple,exquisite,elegance,beauty” to the design of the new Chinese-style study furniture.And based on which to explore the cultural concepts of “integration of Tao and utensils”,“the concept of etiquette”,“return to nature”,and points out that the traditional culture is the root of the beauty of Suzhou-style furniture,which is the product of the combination of the aesthetic interest in the literati in the southern part of the Yangtze River in the Ming Dynasty and the craftsmanship of the craftsmen.Thus,the oriental art of “emptiness and elegance” is created.After that,it elaborates the space decoration characteristics of new Chinese-style study and furnishings of thefurniture,and focus on the analysis of the development status and deficiencies of new Chinese-style study furniture;Afterwards,it uses the form of questionnaire survey to understand the demands and motivations of consumers when they purchase new Chinese-style study furniture.We can feel the artistic design and functional design of the Suzhou-style furniture from the typical cases of new Chinese-style study furniture design,so as to make them more profoundly aware of the beautiful and artistic conception and classical charm of the new Chinese-style study furniture.Finally,through the large number of materials analysis and summary to the new Chinese-style study furniture actual case design.On the basis of understanding the living habits,human dimensions and psychological elements of the residents that analyzes the relationship between the characteristics of the study space,furniture and utensils and their existence.Then takes the fusion of traditional and contemporary characteristics as the context.Based on the design idea of the element extraction and element shape evolution which determines this new Chinese-style study furniture design is innovation and inheritance of the Suzhou-style furniture in Ming Dynasty.So that it can inherit excellent tradition while keeping pace with the times.
