The environment issue is one of the most urgent issues the humankind is facing in the 21st century. The economic development which has been pursued in a predatorial way leads to the serious deterioration of global natural environment. Facing such a deteriorating environment, the only way for the humankind to avoid the self-destruction is to question the social running model of mass production, mass consumption and mass waste. Only by doing so can we find the harmonious developmental way to lessen the environmental crisis. This requires the renaissance of the survival wisdom of the humankind which is represented by the environmental awareness.The modern environmental awareness originated in the western countries in around the 1960s and 1970s. As a modern consciousness, it is the necessary condition for the self-sustainable development. It is also an important measurement for the social development and civilization extent of a nation. As a developing country, our country has experienced the fast economic growth in the last 20 plus years ever since the 1980s. This on the one hand has improved hugely the comprehensive national strength. On the other hand, it has also seriously damaged our natural resources and the natural environment, which in turn greatly weakens the self-sustainable development of our economy.
