A Research On Relationship Between University Students' Environmental Awareness And Environmental Behavior

With the accelerated development of industrialization as well as human's overexploitation and over-consumption of resources,ecological issues including both resource and environmental issues have become an increasing serious threat for human's survival and development.Whether human can change awareness and behavior to the environment is a key to rebuild a harmonious relationship between human and the nature.This dissertation aims to understand the situation of environmental awareness and environmental behavior,as well as the relationship between environmental awareness and environmental behavior among Chinese university students.The results of this study provides implications to understand Chinese university students' environmental awareness and environmental behavior,which is helpful for planning an scientific environmental education system,building up "Green Campus" and even "'Environmentally-friendly Society".Based on literature review and a survey among university students in Dalian,this dissertation examines the relationship between environmental awareness and environmental behavior.Using SPSS 16.0,this study does factor analysis,descriptive statistic analysis, correlation analysis and regression analysis.The main factors of university students' environmental awareness and environmental behaviors are identified through factor analysis. Results of descriptive statistic analysis shows present situation of environmental awareness and environmental behavior among university students.Using correlation analysis and regression analysis,linking with real situation,this study examine how and how much environmental awareness affects environmental behavior.The statistic results show that environmental awareness and environmental behavior are significantly relevant.Such results provide implications for planning scientific enyironmental education system.building up "Green Campus" and"Environmentally-friendly Society".This dissertation concludes that it is important to implement environmental education for university students to improve their environmental awareness which can bring environmental behavior.Environmental behavior can be the start and then be disseminated to the public. which is important to relieve environmental problems,result in a better base for environment protection,and finally establish an environmentally-friendly and harmonious society.
