Dissertation)Chen QingshengAbstractThe layout of flood-release structures in dam and energy-dissipators is one of important problems for designing a high arch dam. The optimization of laying out these structures, paths of flow jets and a water cushion pool for a high arch dam is first discussed systematically in this paper. The main contributions of the study are described as follows:1. A method of classifying these structures is proposed, which is suitable for introducing a mathematic model for optimizing the layout of these structures.2. The ranges of factors about flood-release structures and flood flows are first proposed according to present technical level to introduce a mathematic model,;3. A mathematic model is first introduced for optimizing the layout of flood-release structures in a high arch dam after an idea of the broad sense of construction costs for unit area gate is introduced, and the optimal computation of the layout of flood-release structures in Xiao-wan arch dam demonstrates that this model is reasonable;4. For a single plunging jet, two optimization models are respectively introduced according to the jet trajectory distance and the depth of scour pool, and the optimal computation of the jet trajectory distance in Xiao-wan projectdemonstrates that these models are reasonable;5. For two up and down plunging jets, an optimization model is introduced according to maximum energy dissipation. In this model, the exit angle of jet is first considered actually. The optimal computation of the energy dissipation between two impinging jets in Xiao-wan project demonstrates that this model is reasonable too;6. For a single jet plunging into a cushion pool, a method of calculating depth of the pool is introduced according to the maximum water pressure on the pool bottom and the jet theory;7. For two up and down jets plunging into a cushion pool, two factors of up depth and down depth of water cushion are first introduced actually, then the methods calculating the reasonable depth of cushion pool and the reasonable distance between up jet and down jet are introduced.
