High speed photograph is a means for recording an instantaneous status or a complete procedure in high speed elapse event. This great amount of exact information in time and space could be used for research of the mechanism and movement of high-speed phenomena.The paper analyzes, with a great details, the current technical issues of high speed photograph camera (HSPC) and studies characters of the high-speed movement parts of the HSPC and its dynamic balance and dynamics under high-speed movement. In this paper, a 70mm HSPC has been used as a research object. By using of computer technology, modem design theory and virtual manufacturing technology, the object has been studied in a virtual environment through the design, assembling, dynamic analysis and movement simulation procedures. On the basis, design optimization of film grabing structure of HSPC is realized. It solves the technical bottleneck of high-speed photograph. The design ability of the HSPC is improved. It also provides a new way of research for development of HSPC and improvement of the performance of high-speed photograph.The innovation work in the paper include:1) Movement mechanism of film in HSPC is analyzed. The movement equation of film grabing structure, which is the core of HSPC, has been derived. A comparison and performance analyses of four kinds of intermittent HSPCs (IHSPC) are made.2) A nonlinear dynamic model of film grabing structure of IHSPC has been invented. For this model, an A-Operator Method has been proposed to solve the model both analytically and numerical!}'. The method is then used to analysis the pulling stress of the film.3) Under the above nonlinear dynamics analysis, an optimized design has been firstly realized under virtual manufacturing environment.4) The rest of the parts of HSPC are also designed with numerical representation under the virtual manufacturing environment.5) The assembling of these parts are also made under the virtual manufacturing emironment. This has reduced the time cycle of new product development and demonstrated in real life manufacturing.6) The functioning and working procedure has been simulated and presented on computer screen. It increases the design and manufacture quality.On the basis of exploring and studying virtual manufacturing technology systemically, the virtual manufacturing of HSPC has been realized. It successfully resolves a series of technical difficulties caused by increasing photograph frequency of HSPC. These efforts., increases the level and overall design quality of HSPC manufacturing, decreases the development cycle, provides a new tool for key technology analysis and design solution in the field of HSPC manufacture. Currently, the 70mm HSPC is under development. It is expected that the assembly and system testing can be finished by the end of this year and delivered to the user. This work can also be useful for other high-speed instrument development.
