Urban Traffic System Theory Analysis And Practice

With the evolution of the productive methods and life styles of human beings, the urban traffic has greatly changed in both connotation and denotation. Nowadays, the urban traffic has become the tache and artery of the social economy. After stepping into the 21st century ,with the rapid, continuous and stable economic development of our country, the urban synthetical strength has been further strengthened; the modern urban traffic ,with various modes and abundant contents, has greatly accelerated the preceding of the social economy. Meanwhile, with the rapid development of the urbanization and motor industries, automobiles increase tremendously following with congestion in our country and elsewhere in the world. So, the development of the urban traffic attracts more and more attention of the society. The traffic congestion can be considered as busy or confusion. The process from leisure to busy embodies the vigorous development of society and economy. But, at the same time, the lagging of the supplying and management of the traffic leads to confusion and causes inconvenient trips and decreasing of vehicle running efficiencies.Based on the research of plentiful documents and achievements about urban planning and urban traffic, combined with the author's study and practice of the compound urban traffic planning of Xi'an, this article analyses and discusses some problems in the urban traffic development with systematic theories and methods. On the explication of the city, this article casts a systematic research on the history of the urban development, and discusses the interactive relationship between the city and the urban traffic, and concludes the laws of traffic development and the different characteristics of the urban traffic in its different stages. After studying the reasons of the urban space evolution and the growing mechanism, this article has set up the feedback mechanism between the urban scale and the urban traffic, and put forward the conceptional models of the urban space extension. Parsing the urban transportation system, regarding the structure and its functions, the article has set up the evaluation index system of the urban transportation applying the gray theories, established the weight of the indexes by AHP, and set up comprehensive evaluation methods with fuzzy mathematics. Looking back to the traffic development since the found of the new China, comparing the urban traffic situation with that of the developed countries, we have found the gaps, shortages and some worthwhile experiences. This article especially analyses the basic characteristics of the present traffic situation in the big cities. In the end, the author takes Xi'an as an example to make a positive analysis from his own achievements of the actual projects and researches.
