Design theory provides the theoretical basis for design activities and coach human designers making design, and plays an important role in product development. The goal of this dissertation is to study the Axiomatic Design theory and to apply it on concurrent design of products, and to search theoretical foundation for the concurrent design. This dissertation analyzed and discussed the Axiomatic Design theory, studied on the key techniques related to concurrent design based on axiomatic design, which is design model, requirements analysis, quality function deployment, product information model, evaluation and decision making and exploitation of software system. It is beneficial quest for the computer aided product design. The content as following: 1. Axiomatic design is a general design theory in the design field, using the four domains and two design axioms it generalizes abstractly basic role of design field. The thinking process of decomposition of domain elements and zigzagging mapping between neighborhood domains in axiomatic design are analyzed in detail. The method to estimate the project is expounded utilizing the independence Axiom and the information Axiom, and it brought forward that the axiomatic design is the process of from abstraction to detail with the interlace of activities in analysis and decomposition , and provided a feasible design framework for the product designer. 2. At the base of information integrated, the concurrent design is the product design integrated and concurrently. Appling axiomatic design theory to concurrent design, a model of concurrent design system is established based on axiomatic design. It point out that the concurrent design is the mapping process between neighborhood domains. The process concurrent design is represented by design equation and design matrices, and it had a theoretical foundation so as to describe the process of concurrent. 3. Product demand modeling is the bridge that linking the market, customer and product development process. Based on the axiomatic design, the process model of product demand analysis is established. In concurrent design, the customer is not only user, but also persons of making, selling, setting and recovering. Acquisition, evaluation and description for the information of customer demands are researched in depth. 4. Quality function deployment is a method of product development in consumer driving, and it supply quality assurance for concurrent design of product. The process of Quality function deployment and the structure of house of quality are analyzed in detail. The integrated model of axiomatic design with QFD is established and expatiated on the integrated system implement process. 5. The product information model for assembly is the core of data management in product concurrent design and is the cogent tool for product development. The product information model of design for assembly is established based on axiomatic design and it gives expression to the assembly relationship among various parts. Using the relation of link, motion and place, the problem of pertinence between parts in process of product design is solved. It created a condition for the integrated manufacturing system of product design, manufacturing and assemble. 6. With the axiomatic design, the design schemes of product are evaluated and decision made. The decision-making system of concurrent design is established, the decision-making process of design for manufacturing is expounded and index system for manufacturability evaluation is obtained. Applying information axiom to evolution for design schemes of product, the calculation formulae of information content of evaluation indexes and method of evaluation and decision-making for design scheme are presented. It provided a effectual avenue for computer aided decision-making. 7. Based on axiomatic design, the axiomatic design software system of object-oriented is designed and developed, and it is easy for decision-making and drawing of design, inquiring and changing of information for designer.
