Using 3D virtual reality and simulation, this thesis studies the project layout and the sustainable utilization of the water resources in Dujiangyan. It is of great significance on the progress of water science and the development of Dujiangyan irrigated area.1. This thesis studies the diversion rule of the flow and sediment of three main projects in Dujinagyan under the natural condition. Yielding to the river form and following the hydraulic and sediment law, Dujiangyan Project, maintained continuously, has run normally for 2260 years.2. The existing contradiction between supply and demand in water resources is discussed, and the historical changes, current situation and future planning of water resources are analyzed in this paper. Based on the analysis, some solutions are provided. These solutions will relax the problem of the space-time imbalance and the shortage of water resources, enhance the safety of water supply, reduce the flood damage, and improve the scene of world cultural-heritage --Dujiangyan Project.3. In order to solve the problem of the terrain modeling caused by different-precision data, the method of multilevel terrain construction is advanced. By analyzing the characteristic of the terrain modeling and adopting different modeling rules in different regions, the triangle redundancy of the terrain model is modified.4. Based on the state of arts in 3D visualization and simulation system, this paper brings forward three levels in the study of a valley. The detailed research has been taken on the real-time and 3D-visualization system which united with the numerical simulation, including the process control of the numerical simulation, the real-time display of 3D environment and the calculation result, and the data transport for the real-time display and the calculation. Based on above methods, achieved is the alternation function between 3D visualization and the numerical simulation. The above achievements develop the alternation of the real-time display and computations of the valley, which is of great significance on the management and the simulation of the digital valley.5. In the simulation of the flow field by the particle system, analyzed is the influence on the quality of the real-time display and the reality. A new system of the flow-field simulation is achieved, which improves the quality of the real-time display and the reality.6. In order to solve the problem of water resources in Dujiangyan, this paper argues different schemes of anti-regulating reservoir with the 3D simulation system, and presents a new plan, which effectively avoids the visual pollution and solves the key problem of the old schemes. As a new kind of technology, the 3D visualization presents a magnificent way to demonstrate the project plan by simulating the scene of the project prior to construction.
