The patterns of river-sea transportation are an integrated and extended pattern between that of river transportation and sea transportation. At present, they have been developing a new type transportation pattern by means of special ship form. One of them is the pattern of river-sea barge transportation.Due to the differences between the economic conditions and the applied technology of waterborne transportation, the executive methods of the pattern of river-sea barge transportation is different in the transportation branches of the different countries, especially in the transportation arrangement aspect. So, it has always been analyzed and developed. With the rapid economic development in the zone of Yangtze River where Shanghai city has been the center, the requirements to a large of raw material and the freight tons are continually increasing. For example, a large of amount of imported ores is transported from Beilun port to the river-destinations ports of the different iron-steel enterprises along Yangtze River. Because of the current multi-transfer from Beilun port to the destination ports, the iron-steel group must pay some extra expenses such as the losses of ores and the transfer fee. Some damages are made on the environment. The owners of ores are strongly interest in the river-sea transportation to reduce the multi-transfer processes. In the meantime, a new transportation situation has been forming caused by the freight tons of cements that are made by some enterprises along the Yangtze River and transported to the seaboard in china.Considering the present transportation situation and new developing plan of amounts of river-sea freight tons in the navigation line of imported ores and cements between Beilun port and Wuhan port, the thesis has analyzed the technology and economic performances of river-sea barge transportation. The analyses of the thesis include:1 .To put forward the transportation mode of river-sea barge by means of the analyses of the current transportation pattern of imported ores and the review of the transportation ways of river-sea barge in the different countries. It has integrated the advantages of the pushing technology of river and sea. Theanalyses include:(l) the pusher-barge unit will adopt the active combination in the sea-line between Beilun port and Shanghai port;(2) To apply the developed group formation technology in the river-line between Shanghai port and Wuhan port, the fleet will be composed of a pusher and river-sea barges or a river-sea barge mixed with the current fleet composed of a pusher and river barges.2.Because the technology and economics performance date about the pusher-barge unit/fleet are lack of in china, some performance date have been tested and analyzed by ship experiment, such as:(l) the correlative data about the technology and economics of the pusher-barge unit navigating in the sea-line;(2) the correlative data about the technology and economics of the fleet navigating in the river-line. The basic feasibility of the transportation pattern has been demonstrated. The problems that need to study deeply have been founded to offer a strong bases to the study of the bigger deadweight tons of pusher-barge unit/fleet.3.Because of the slot stern form of the river-sea barge, the resistance of river-sea barge has a rapid increase, the conventional calculation method of ship resistance will not be applied to the resistance calculation of river-sea barge, the resistance prediction of the fleet can not be realized also. The thesis has put forward the resistance forecasting method about river-sea barge and pusher-barge unit and pusher-barge fleet and the optimum stern form of the river-sea barge by means of model tests. The analyses include: (1) the forecasting methods of the residual resistance of the river-sea barge according to the length arrangement of the slot and of the total resistance of the river-sea barge. (2) To define the optimum length arrangement of the slot and the stern form which the resistance performance is excellent. (3) To establish the forecastin...
