Automobile's reliability engineering is a application of reliability engineering's normal principles and methods. Its primary content includes reliability design, distribution, forecast, examination, estimate and service. As a new theory and method, grey system theory grasps and describes system's function and disciplinarian through the understanding of part known information. Its object is a incertitude system whose part information is known, part information is unknown. In this dissertation, grey system theory and traditional reliability methods are hung together to apply to automobile's reliability engineering. Automobile's reliability engineering based on grey system theory is investigated deeply and systematically, and many examples are particularized.The main contents of this dissertation are as following:In Chapter 1, the concept, development, newly arisen theories and methods of reliability are introduced. The international and internal research situations of automobile's reliability are also presented. And the author brings up the main studying contents of this dissertation.In Chapter 2, the formation, characteristic, concept, principles and mainly contents of grey system theory are expatiated. Grey number and grey system's creating are defined. The grey reliability's development and application in automobile's reliability are introduced. Grey decision, grey relation analysis, grey model, grey forecast and grey clustering method are applied to automobile's reliability engineering. A comparatively whole system frame about automobile's reliability engineering based on grey system theory is constituted. The grey system theory offer a new technical means to study on the automobile's reliability engineering.In Chapter 3, the meaning and important status of automobile's reliability design are discussed. The basic contents and many methods in common use are also introduced. A new reliability design method—the customer centered automobile's reliability design is presented. The grey relation analysis is applied to reliability design. The example results show that in design phase using the same or the kindred product's fault diagnosis and analysis can give designers reference. Based on this, high reliably automobile's products can be obtained.In Chapter 4, the meaning, aim and method of reliability forecast are introduced. And the grey forecast method is used to predict the failures of the automobile's products. Grey forecast is based on quondam failure datum. Its result can improve the designing project, and also can improve the products' reliability level.In Chapter 5, based on the concept of reliability manage the automobile's reliability manage is presented. Strengthening the reliability manage of the auto enterprises is very important to improve the enterprises' economic benefits. The contents of automobile product's reliability manages areanalyzed in detail. A new way that automobile product's reliability manages based on concurrent engineering is presented. The grey clustering method is applied in a set of overhauled vehicles to evaluate their quality. This method can give designers and manufacturers many important foundations.In Chapter 6, the main research findings and conclusions of whole thesis are summarized. The main innovations are mentioned. And the problems waiting to research in detail are also presented.The application of grey system theory in automobile product's reliability engineering can settle many complicated problems which can hardly or not be settled by traditional methods. The new way's presenting can enrich the reliability engineering's content, and also can settle many problems which can not be settled by traditional methods.
