The EV as a true saving on fuel and environmental protection traffic tool has been taken seriously again after experienced hard time over 100 years.In order to study the differences between a fuel vehicle and an EV, and explore design methods and correlative techniques of the EV, the main works and conclusions in the dissertation are as follows:A light passenger car is changed into a test-EV. A device to shift batteries quickly is developed which obtains the patent of the state. After the EV is tested on roads, the dynamic characteristic parameters are calculated in theory and the data are analyzed, a conclusion is put forward that the design of an EV can use the design way and formulae of a fuel vehicle. It provides a foundation in theory for selecting and setting up of motor parameters and a basis for further development of middle-sized cars.A rare earth permanent magnetism brushless direct current motor is set in the test-EV and runs in order during a course of the test on roads near one thousand kilometers.After analyzing data from the test in a laboratory and roads to a kind of zinc-air battery with an electrolyte cycle system, some conclusions are shown such as: The battery has advantages, for example, charging conveniently and automatically, increasing specific energy, extending the driving range of the EV. The large internal resistance, complex structure, unripe techniques and far from being used in practice are the disadvantages of it.There are centralized and distributed measurement systems now. A new concept called "the centralized/ distributed measurement system" is put forward and applied to design the battery parameter detection system for the first time. It has some advantages such as simpler, reliable, higher cost performance. Meantime, a communications network model called "dual-CAN buses" for controlling electric equipments and driving system in a car is advanced.Three methods called "sample and summation" for output quantity calculation , "equivalent broken lines" for surplus quantity calculation of a battery and "preset...
