On The Theory Construction And Application Prospect Of The Ecocity Aesthetic Conception

Ecocity is a unique kind of human habitat notion and development mode facing the future. In the aesthetic conception, it has broken through the modernistic city aesthetic principles based on the industry civilization. In this thesis, the author analyzes the involute city aesthetic changing in the present age, uses the theory of philosophy, aesthetics and ecology to study the potential meaning and the aesthetic value of the contemporary ecocity, some representative designs of architecture, city planning and landscape are also chosen as examples to analyze and explain in detail. The paper pays attention to follow and absorb the ecological aesthetic conception, the ecological scientific intellection and the ecological philosophic thinking, searches for the aesthetic essence, connotation, rule, value and corresponding aesthetic process inside the reach of city study. It goes deeply into the fields of philosophy of art, Sociological Aesthetics and aesthetic psychology, at the same time, it tight connects the research with the macroscopical development of urban plan and design, deeply bases the thought for the future on the bedrock of history and actuality.Instead of affording new skills, the focus of this book is to introduce a new art conception and the relating city art phenomena, that gives us a clear angle to analyze and enjoy the ecocity. The thesis deems that as the solidified entity of the ecological aesthetic conception, the ecocity has been an"evolving"process and is not an ultimate object; it is not a"Utopia"assuming but an"idealism dealing with concrete matters relating to work". The realizing of seeking object will lie on the changing of philosophic, aesthetic viewpoint and action dealing with concrete matters relating to work by people. The process fulls of revolting, creation and expection!There are eight parts in this paper, the primary contents and conclusions are as follows: First of all, there is a basic research of the ecocity aesthetic conception and its application, which is also the background of the whole thesis. It gives us the research value of the ecocity aesthetics and some correlative notions to be used in succedent expatiation. Then, it reviews and summarizes the foregone theories and ultimateness about ecocity study in brief, shows us the significance of ecocity aesthetics based on the insufficiencies of those theories. There is also a whole frame given with the research emphasis and methods.The second part is the system construction of the ecocity aesthetic conception. In the background analyse of the contemporary ecocity aesthetics born, the paper tries to focus its emphases on the holistic evolution and vicissitude of the 20th century aesthetics, find out the particularities and prescience in the trend of contemporary city aesthetics development. Then, the paper gives us an academic ecocity aesthetic frame according with the up-to-date ecological intellection, which is used in the succedent study.The third part is the historical review of the ecocity aesthetic conception. In this part, there is a synchronization relative analysis between city aesthetics and ecological thinking. It lays stress on finding the aesthetic mode of thought between city beauty and ecological beauty in the evolutive process of city history in the East and the West,then it tries to think out the historical origin and the law of beauty for the ecocity aesthetics.The forth part of this thesis is the philosophy explanation of the ecocity aesthetic conception, it is also a category in the philosophy of art. The paper examines the essence of ecocity and its beauty minutely, probes into their meaning in the field of ontology, then validates the correctness from the angle of epistemology.The fifth part is the external model of the ecocity aesthetic conception, it is also a category in the Sociological Aesthetics. In this part, the paper principally studies the aesthetic object (city) in three fields which are the aesthetic axiology, the theory of aesthetic relation and the aesthetic environmentalism.The six part is the immanent appreciation of the ecocity aesthetic conception, it is also a category in the aesthetic psychology. In this part, the paper principally studies the aesthetic subject (human being), and tries to find out the thought track and the emotion sublimation of those people when they become embracers and estimators of beauty in the city aesthetic process.The seventh part is the contemporary application of the ecocity aesthetic conception. It selects some correlative cases from the 2004 Tianjin Macroscopical Urban Design to make a practical inquiry and intertestification for the basic theory of the ecocity aesthetic conception.Finally, there is a summing-up for the whole thesis.
