Huang Qi combined with Dang Gui is one of typical herb couples with widely theoretical and cinical uses .They can be used singly or with other herbs. The formation of this herb couple is guided under relationship of Qi and blood with respective functions of tonifying Qi and nourishing blood, tonifying Qi and controlling blood circalation or tonifying Qi and activating blood circulation closely associated with different diseases, different combinations ,different processing of herbs, different chemical changes and different doses as well. This article explored theoretical and experimental studies of Huang Qi combined with Dang Gui on tonifying Qi and activating blood circulation from their different total doses and different proportion. The result indicates:The herb couple has function of tonifying Qi and activating blood circalation by effect on blood viscocity and expression of leukocyte adhesive factors, which concnetely shows : lowering blood viscocity and the rate of platelet aggregation on blood stasis mice, lowing the rate of leukocyte cohesiveness and the expression of CD-I 8 and CD-54 on blood stasis mice due to Qi deficiency. It is first found that the herb couple shows no significant function of activating blood circulation with total dose of 36gram and a rate of 5:1 or 1:1, while a significant function with a total dose of 36 gram and a rate 3 '. 1 ortotaldoseof 45gram and a rate of 1.5 " 1.That has portly proved the above view.
