Swainsonine (SW), a kind of water-soluble indole alkaloid and an alpha-mannosidase inhibitor which blocks Golgi oligosaccharide processing, represents a new class of compounds that could inhibit the growth and metastasis of tumor. It was used to study glucoprotein N-link oligosaccharide as an instrument drug since it was separated initially from the fruit of Australian Swainsona canescens and North America locoweed (including Astragalus and Oxytropis spp.) SW was separated from Oxytropis in domestic. Kansu crazyweed herb is one kind of Oxytropis plant and the areas distribute is large, nutritional value is affluent, but the toxicity is severely and threaten the development of animal husbandry in prairie. Domestic research to SW started at the beginning of 1980's and concentrate in abstraction, separating and its toxicity. But the research to the anticancer activity and the mechanisms of SW is seldom. SW extracted from Kansu crazyweed herb was looked as target in this study, used the method of neoplastic cell cultured in vitro and animal model bearing cancer in vivo, by the detecting to correlation test and indexes, to reveal the antitumor activity and the mechanism of S W to liver cancer and gastric cancer furtherly.Through the research of this study, it confirmed that SW have inhibitory action to the growth of the tumors in vitro and in vivo and we expect SW as a new kind of medicine and obtain well-knit rationale experiment foundation. The experiment was divided into three parts.Extract and assaying of SW. SW was extracted from cured hay powder of Kansu crazyweed herb using methanol in experiment, dissolved...
