By use of theory of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and combination with modern technology as well as clinical experience of profession Hou Yufen on deep venous thrombosis, we succeed in manufacturing Xiao Shuan Tong Mai Granules (XSTM). It is believed that lower limbs deep venous thrombosis is stronger relation to inflammation and endothelium dysfunction which play roles in thrombosis by recently developed theory of mechanism of deep venous thrombosis. It is systematically discussed that XSTM was able to influence on endothelium structure and function. We have been initially discussed that expression of P-selectin of endothelial cells and inflammatory cells of vascular wall those were association with venous thrombosis. And we firstly studied on effect of XSTM on interventional mechanism of P-selectin and inflammatory cells in rats with deep venous thrombosis. We basically constitute a hypothesis that inflammation induced by adhesion molecules of endothelial cell and endothelium damages and dysfuncton were important in development of venous thrombosis. It is showed that the mechanism of XSTM was association with inhibiting expression of cell adhesion molecules of endothelium and inflammatory cell infiltrating into vessel wall, promoting fibrinolytic activity,inhibiting platelet adhesion and aggregation, regulating angiotasis, protecting the normal endothelium structure and function, inhibiting collagen hyperplasia and maintaining elasticity of vascular wall. It is showed that XSTM has multiple therapeutic action on deep venous thrombosis.
