Studies Of The Constituents And Biological Activities Of Descurainia Sophia (L.)

This kind of Chinese traditional medicine is the seeds of Descurainia sophia (L.) Webb ex Prantl, which is the plant of Cruciferae and distributed in the north and the east of China. It can relieve a cough, prevent asthma, reduce edema, promote urination and tonify the heart.From the ethanol extract of the seeds of Descurainia sophia (L.) Webb ex Prantl, 31 compounds were isolated by chromatographic and recrystallized methods. Their structures were all identified on the basis of analysis of NMR. MS data and measuring of physico-chemical characters as descurainolide A (1) , descurainolide B (2), descuraic acid (3) , descurainin (4) , descurainoside (5) , descurainin A (6), descurainoside A (7) , descurainoside B (8) , 4-pentenamide (9), syringic aldehyde (10), p-hydroxy benzaldehyde (11), isovanillic acid (12), syringic acid (13), p-benzoic acid (14) , kaempferol (15), isorhamnetin (16), quercetin (17), isorhamnetin-3-O-β-D-glucopyranoside ( 18 ) , quercetin-3-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (19) , sinapic acid (20) , sinapic acid ethyl ester (21) , sinapine bisulfate (22), nicotinic acid (23) , 2,5-dimethyle-7-hydroxychromone (24) , strophanthidin (25) and 5-hydroxymethurfural (26) , uracil (27), thymine (28) , 3-methoxyinositol (29) , β-sitosterol (30) and β-daucosterol (31) .
