A Study On The Art Of Characters In Tang Dynasty

The figure art of Tang poem developed on the base of the first generation poetry. A very high artistic achievement made in the description of figures.lt has a profound influence on later poems.The whole research on the figure art of Tang poem includes five aspects:the historical roots,types of characters, arctic technique,the evolution of description art andand the achievement.The development of the characters description art before the Tang poetry can be divided into two periods of Qin and Han and Wei Jin Southern and Northern Dynasties.Figure type and description of methods in Qin and Han poetry are simple. Because of political and ceremonial reasons and the emphasis on the moral character, the figures in Qin and Han poetry lack the masters of beauty and full spirit.In the Wei and Jin poetry, the figure types and description skills diversified.During this period the poet dedicated to the portrayal of a person with regard to distinguishing psychological features.The late southern and Northern Dynasties,poets use various methods including Fu method,grasping the characteristics,detail description,delicate psychological description to depict vivid figures.The figure art of Tang Dynasty has been a great development. It is not only reflected in the diversification of character types,description approaches and implications,but also reflected in the free expression of the poet emotion,the rich life connotation,high spirits and the rich and colorful social life.Based on the inheritance of Qi and Liang Gongti poetry,the development of figure art in the early Tang Dynasty also highlights the characteristics of the new change.In the second stage of Tang Dynasty,the poet portrayed the three-dimensional characters in Poetry.The development of figure art in the Middle Tang Dynasty mainly reflected in the emphasis on the Fu method and line-drawings,characterization of the internal spirit,and the secularized and typed figures.The development of figure art in the late Tang Dynasty diversified.Local research on the figure art of Tang poem also includes four aspects:relationship between the poetry character image description and the art of painting,restriction on the figure art of different poetrys’ forms,the case study and comparative study of the famous poet.The prosperity of painting and poetry in the Tang Dynasty makes them interact on each other and allows them to intermingle in aesthetic and artistic. The image of different types of characters in Tang poems established the basic types of characters in the later poems. Also,It accumulated abundant artistic experience for characters in poetry description. Characters in Tang poetry has a kind of romantic and lyrical taste which has deep influence on later literature.Different genres of poetry use different methods to portray the character. Because poet’s artistic individuality is different, they depict different characters.Li Bai was a Taoist priest,but Li Qi was a Confucian scholar.So Tang celebrity image in Li Qi’s poems,he takes experiences from biographies to faithfully describe the characters.Li Bai is good at Lyric,so he use freehand way to describe the characters.Han Yu inherited Du Fu’s experience in self-image’s description. Han Yu changed the past romantic writing style,and replaced a realistic way to describe people.Zhangji inherits the ancient Yuefu’s experience to portray female images.The female images in Bai Juyi’s new Yuefu takes experience from the biographically historic literature,the legend of the Tang dynasty.
