On The Practice Of Tao Xingzhi 's Art Education

The thesis introduces how Tao Xingzhi’s art education philosophy came into shape and sorts out his art education practices as well. By analyzing and exploring Tao Xingzhi’s art education practices, it leads to some experience which is valuable in promoting art education nowadays.The thesis consists of 5 chapters. Chapter One gives an account of the research’s aim, creative points and analyzing frame. Chapter Two elaborates how Tao’s art education philosophy came into shape and developed step by step. It is said, by researchers of Tao Xingzhi, his art education philosophy development went through 7 phases. Extracted from his overall education theory, Tao’s art education philosophy is independently described and analyzed. Chapter Three focuses on Tao’s art education practices in Yucai School which is the key period in his art education life. By elaborating on the selective Art course and some artistic activities in Life Education courses, it provides the readers a panorama of Tao’s art education practices. Chapter Four, the hardcore of the thesis, describes the Campaign of Creative Month in Yucai School, by which Tao encouraged the teachers and students to combine the art education and the universal education in a better way. Third paragraph of the chapter, with the title The Significance of the Campaign of Creative Month, discusses the changes in Yucai School brought by the campaign of combining the art education and the universal education and the changes of the learning state of the students caused by art education. Chapter Five, the conclusion, analyzes the reasons why Tao’s art education practices failed to survive after his death and introspects the shortage of Tao’s art education practices. In the end, it raises some suggestion of measures to promote art education in elementary schools and middle schools according to Shanghai Education Commission’s requirement.
