Geological resources (GR) are important part of the natural resources (NR). As the progress of society, economy and technology, the usage of geological resources should be changed, from meeting the human’s material and existence needs to meeting human needs of a higher level of knowledge and aesthetic needs. So the tourism value inherent in the GR is to be explored to meet people’s various and constant needs, such as aesthetic, recreational, healthy, knowledge need. And the tourism geological resources (TGR) are developed for tourism from the stage of sightseeing, leisure to experience and health tourism in worldwide, which indicates the tourism geological resources industry (TGRI) is formed(we can call it tourism geological resources industrialization). And the process of TGRI is dynamic, which always is effected from many factors. Based on the theories of geology, geography, tourism, tourism economics, industrial economics and other related disciplines, the thesis explores the processes and the paths of TGRI in Yunnan.Tourism development of GR in Yunnan began in 1936 from the establishment of the Stone Forest Scenic Spot Administration, and developing rapidly in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Especially in 1986 tourism industry was positioned as the mainstay industry in Yunnan, so the tourism industry based on GR generated considerable economic value. The thesis analyzes the typical environment of GR,169 typical tourist geological landscape, six categories of tourism products and activities of special GR,2 national geological parks and some activities of tourism development and researches in foreign countries and regions. Based on analyzing of these practices, the author proposes the theory of tourism geological resources industrialization from the followed aspects. First, the transforming of geological resources to tourism resources is the basis of tourism geological resources industrialization. Second, creating TGR products and marketing is the core of the industrialization. Third, capitalization of TGR can improve the efficiency of TGRI. At last the process of industrialization interweaves with relative industry and develops with each other.Transforming of geological resources to tourism resources is the basis and precondition of tourism geological resources industrialization. And the key of this process is to explore the value of TGR. Value of reconstruction of GR, development practices of GR and technological progress are the basic condition for transforming. At the same time, tourism enterprises, government, tourists, community residents and research institutions (experts) drive the process of transforming. Based on theory research, tourism value of GR can be divided into three categories, namely resource elements value, resources influence value and environmental conditions value, which can be divided into ten secondary factors. And then the thesis uses AHP and Delphi method to evaluate the tourism value of GR in Yunnan, which can provide theoretical guidance and basis for tourism geological resources product design and development. The author selects 97 typical GR to testify the above theory. And the thesis concludes that the most important value of GR in Yunnan is recreation ornamental and scientific-cultural value while the geographical mix and favorable travel period is also advantage of GR in Yunnan. Tourism geological resources are results of transforming of GR, and TGR is the beginning of TGR industrialization.Creating TGR products and marketing is the core the industrialization. After the transforming from GR to TGR, it’s especially important to develop products and to exchange them in the market in order to realize the value of TGR in the tourism market. If the tourism product can be sold well, the first thing needed to do is to study the needs of the consumers or potential consumers. After analyzing the demand characteristics and concentration degree of tourists, the research segments the market into six markets. For different types of tourism market, there are various TGR products, which can be reduced into scenic spots, protected areas and tourism purchases. The thesis analyzes main products include 11 national scenic areas,37 provincial-level scenic spots,4 SPA tourism enterprises,12 SPA leisure tourist area, 3 AAAAA-grade and 27 AAAA-grade tourist areas,3 national parks,10 national geological parks (including two world geological park), a national Mine Park, a state-level tourist resort, 9 provincial tourism resorts and tourist shopping geology products of special stone, jade jewelry, marble and other components in Yunnan. These products constitute the TGR product system and contribute the development of tourism in Yunnan.At the same time, it is important to improve GR conversion ability and production efficiency. And the capitalization of TGR is one choice. We can define asset management, named capitalization, that the TGR or TGR ventures can be circulated in the market causing that the transaction objects can be held in the hand of best operators to ensure them effective development and protection by assessing its value. In Yunnan, there are many methods for the asset management of TGR under the transfer of management rights to strengthen TGR development and management, such as contract operation, leasing, franchising and the introduction of professional management company and other ways.However, there are still many problems for the industrialization of TGR in Yunnan. The development is still on low level and non-equalizing, and the management system is an obstacle for further development. So it is important to use foreign experience in tourism industry for reference to resolve such problems. And many things needed to do to promote the industrial development of TGR in Yunnan, such as further legislation, adjustment of management system, scientific planning, development and investment innovation, multi-stakeholder involvement and other ways.
