Economic belt is a economic corridor which considers a economically developed one or several big cities as the core, and connect and promote the economic growth of different grade scale cities around. They are closely linked in economy, industrial division of labor and economic cooperation, transportation integration, equal flow integration. Besides, infrastructure and social programs also interact with the public service facilities.Joseph Eugene Stiglitz, an American economist and Nobel Price winner once said "In the 21 century, there are two factors impacting the global economy. One is America’s new-tech revolution, and the other is China’s urbanization." At present, China’s urbanization has become one of its three major challenges in development, and the development quality of urbanization is the most important in urbanization developing process. According to the global urbanization division standard, urbanization development is divided into three stages, including the beginning, the accelerating and the mature stage, among which the beginning stage level means less than 30 percent in urbanization; the accelerating stage level means more than 30 percent in urbanization; and the mature stage level refers to more than 70 percent in the urbanization development. Since 1978, China’s urbanization rate has increased 38.18 percent with an average of 1 percent increase each year, from 17.92 percent in 1978 to 56.1 percent in 2015. From 2000 to 2010, China’s urbanization rate increased by 11.3 percent with an average annual growth of 1.13 percent. With the development of China’s urbanization, some problems also emerged when we embrace the excellent results. What’s more, medical treatment, education, health, culture and sports, such as development lags behind that of the city, so the contradiction between city and the countryside in the process of the urbanization is highlighted.The Yangtze river economic belt is the most influential and the most important area of the development potential in our future economic development pattern. As China’s first "golden waterway" Yangtze river economic belt, is the most important national spatial development axis,and has essential strategic position in the overall pattern of regional development. At present, the development of urbanization in the Yangtze river economic belt is facing some problems. For example, there are numerous and scattered small towns; Urbanization development obviously lags behind industrialization, uneven regional development; Urbanization develops under heavy burden and pressure, etc. From the viewpoint of urbanization quality, therefore, to evaluate and spatial variance analyze the urbanization development quality of the Yangtze river economic belt, and discuss the advance of the urbanization in the strategy, which can provide scientific decision basis for regional development, and finally realize the goals of building the coordinated regional development, narrow the gap between urban and rural area, and construct harmonious cities.This paper chooses the 126 major cities in nine provinces and two municipalities in the Yangtze river economic belt as the research objects,2006-2013 as the research period. Selecting the time series data and cross section data as the foundation, based on the connotation definition of the development of urbanization quality in the Yangtze river economic belt, from the study angle of development of economy and society, ecological environment and the innovation ability, this paper attempts to build a comprehensive evaluation index system of urbanization development quality. On the basis of the construction of urbanization efficiency index evaluation system, further discuss the urbanization development efficiency of the Yangtze river economic belt. Using principal component analysis (pea), index of clustering method, the natural fracture method, spatial auto-correlation analysis method and standard deviation ellipse method, total factor productivity analysis method, using ArcGIS9.3 software, Geoda analysis software, Statal 1.0 programming, this paper attempts to measure and analyze the urbanization development quality of the Yangtze river economic belt.The study found that from 2006 to 2013, the urbanization quality in the Yangtze river economic belt has a steady rising trend, rising from 0.79137 in 2006 to 1.13372 in 2013. It has increased by 1.433 times. From urban agglomeration aspect, all the three urban agglomerations also present a rising trend. Within 8 years, the average value of the urbanization quality of the urban agglomeration in upstream, midstream and downstream is 0.801,0.801,0.899respectively. The average value of the urban agglomeration of downstream is 1.53 times that of the midstream, is 1.71 times that of the upstream. This reflects the fact that the downstream urbanization quality is higher than the middle and lower reaches of the urban agglomeration.From the space angle, the urbanization quality of the Yangtze river economic belt can be divided into four types, namely high, medium, general and low quality of urbanization development region. For analyzing the quality of urbanization development in the Yangtze river economic belt, respectively from the economic development, social development and ecological environment, the innovation ability, this paper is to measure and analyze the urbanization development quality of the Yangtze river economic belt. The result shows that from 2006 to 2008, the urbanization development quality of the Yangtze river economic belt increased year by year. In terms of the four dimensions, the development order should be environmental development, social development, economic development and innovation ability. With our country’s emphasis shifting from development speed to development quality, a steady economic growth presents;Our attention to the construction of ecological civilization makes the environment improved. The eighteenth National Congress of the CPC put forward the strategy of "innovation drive" to improve the innovation ability construction. As a result, the development of the four dimensions is consistent with the reality of our country. From the space-time evolution analysis, the urbanization development quality of the Yangtze river economic belt’s overall difference decreases in the volatility. From the point of the overall difference between the three urban agglomerations, difference between the groups is greater than the difference in group. Although in eight years, differences between urban agglomeration has a tendency to shrink, but overall is still higher than that of internal urban agglomeration. From the internal urban agglomeration, the urbanization development quality difference between urban agglomeration of the Yangtze river economic belt is the urban agglomeration of upstream is greater than the urban agglomeration of downstream which is greater than the middle urban agglomeration. It shows that the reason why there is a big gap of the urbanization development in the Yangtze river economic belt is mainly because of great internal differences between upstream and downstream urban agglomeration. From the spatial correlation analysis, good urbanization quality in the Yangtze river economic belt distributes in high low quadrant, which shows that the quality of urbanization development in the Yangtze river economic belt has a space positive correlations. From the standard deviation ellipse analysis, from 2006 to 2013, the distribution of quality of urbanization development in the Yangtze river economic belt is northeast to southwest, urbanization developing focus are mainly located in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze river economic belt area, Within the standard deviation ellipse region is the main area of urbanization. It can be seen that the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze river have the domination. In general, the space structure evolution characteristics of the quality of urbanization development in the Yangtze river economic belt are not obvious in 2006-2013, which means in eight years, urbanization development subject areas in the Yangtze river economic belt shows a stable development situation. In the analysis of the efficiency of urbanization, the development efficiency of urbanization in the Yangtze river economic belt has significant regional differences, the overall development to fall; Efficiency of technical progress and urbanization efficiency have great relevance, because technological progress plays an important role in improving the efficiency of urbanization;In the process of urbanization development in the Yangtze river economic belt has imputed higher variables of the intensive.
