Tire manufacturing is traditional labor-intensive manufacturing industries, the promotion and application of information technology plays an important part in the enhancement of both the production efficiency and product quality for tire manufactures. Tire manufacturing enterprises in China have made great progress in the level of information technology during the past few decades. Most of working procedures from mixing to building have achieved the joint production in respect of applications in automation equipment. By the implementation and application of management software such as enterprise resources planning (ERP), production data management (PDM). supply chain management (SCM) and etc., tire enterprises can basically make the enterprise resource managed and used effectively. With further application of information technology, however, corporate upper management systems and automation equipment at production sites can not form an effective connection, which result in problems such as data isolation and information dealing without sharing, thus it weakened the effectiveness of information application for tire enterprise to some extent. Manufacturing execution system (MES) is the bridge between layer of planning management and bottom control, it can bridge the gap between them and is the key to realize manufacturing information. It mainly solve the implementation problem of workshop production task aiming at fast response of manufacturing and energy consumption reduction by real-time monitoring and optimization of coordinated control system to logistics and state of equipment. In recent years, MES research and application at home and abroad have already gained some achievement, especially in steel and chemical industry, the application of MES has had a major impact on the production process of the whole industry. But in the tire industry, research of MES is still at the exploratory stage. In this paper, the application of MES in tire industry is discussed by research the key technology of MES such as the data acquisition technology of tire production process,planning and scheduling technology of tire production processs,trace system of the whole tire production process,MES integration of tire production process and etc..The main research work and the results are as follows:1) The production,development and research situation of MES is reviewed, the current situation and existing problem of MES application in various industries both in domestic and international is analyzed, the system framework and key technologies in the application process of MES for tire enterprise is presented.2) A real-time data acquisition program for tire manufacturing process is put forward according to hybrid manufacturing process characteristic for the tire industry, and production data acquisition and process monitoring program based on OPC is proposed for automation equipment. This paper gives an adaptive minimum contribution eliminated modeling method based on kernel function, and proves its feasibility and effectiveness through its use in intelligent mixing system.3) To solve the problem that the production scheduling arrangement is inefficient in tire production process, a hybrid heuristic algorithm based on constraint theory and genetic algorithm is proposed. With curing process as the bottleneck process and with minimize penalty the advance or delay in delivery as scheduling target.optimize the vulcanization process.and schedule effectively building and all the semi finished product process. Application of the algorithm in enterprise makes the divorce time between semi finished products process and building significantly reduced.4) For traceability system is an integral part of MES for tire industry, the establishment of the production process traceability system has important engineering significance for production quality control,clarification of quality responsibility and quality reasons,claims of defective products and process improvement. Combining with characteristics of the tire production process, a tire production process traceability system is proposed based on barcode technology and RFID technology and a trace mapping model is designed including entire production process from quality control, curing, forming, semi finished products to mixing process and trace method for all the material from a finished tire, tire embryo, semi finished products, compounded rubber until raw material.5) In view of present situation of tire enterprise information, an integration implementation of MES in tire industry is proposed. MES integration is divided into two parts, one part is integration between the various independent modules within MES system, the other is integration between MES system and heterogeneous ERP system. A detailed system integration architecture and integration process is designed.6) Through the application of MES system in SAILUN corp., the application method of MES system in tire manufacturing and the means of critical functions is reviewed, and the economic and social benefits brought about by the implementation of MES in SAILUN corp. is analyzed.
