Nine kinds of alkyl and aryl xanthate salts were synthesized and their adducting performance with neutural ligands such as phenanthroline or dipyridine was studied. The complexes were characterized by elemental analysis, infrared spectrum, ultraviolet spectrum. Their stability has been characterized by thermal analysis. Their crystal structure was determined by X-ray crystallography. The results show that alkyl xanthate was synthesized at lower temperature s( 10-20℃) than aryl xanthate (60-80℃) and the yield of alkyl xanthate salts were higher than the aryl ones. The aryl xanthate salts are difficult to adduct to the neutral ligands owing to steric hindrance while the alkyl xanthate salts are easy to coordinate to those ligands. The crystal structures for the complexes bis(isopropylxanthato) bis(1, 10-phenanthroline) Nickel(II) and tris(isopropylxanthato) cobalt(IH) have been determinated.The extracting qualities of two kinds of xanthates salts to precious metal Pd from the industrial waste catalysts were studied by the extracting method. The results show that extracting efficiency of aryl xanthate salts was obviously better than that of fatty xanthate salts.The complex ethyl phosphite nitrate tris(1, 10-phenanthroline) nickel (II) solvate trihydrate was synthesized and its crystal structure has been determinated.Several Schiff bases were synthesized and their coordinative performance to the metals was researched. The crystal structure of bis(N-p-chloro-phenyl-sali-cylideneaminate) Schiff base copper(II) complex was obtained.
