West-East gas pipeline is a typical branched pipeline network system with one source and more consumers. Its main line is about 4000km long, and it has some branches. It is the longest distance and the largest diameter gas pipeline in China now. The consumers included fuel gas user in town, industrial user, electrical power user and pipeline network company in some areas etc. A complex hydraulic system consisted of the main and branches, compressor stations, delivery stations and gas storages. If only some parameter changed, then the whole system state would be changed. Safe and economic operation and management would be faced with challenge for the long distance, more consumers and complex state. So the pipeline must be simulated, since managers of pipeline want to know about, control and adjust the operating condition of pipeline for the purpose of safe and economic management. But it was a very difficult work to operate and manage the complex pipeline system exactly. So, based on a lot of data, a steady and a transient simulation model were developed according to the physical model of West-East pipeline system. Then the operating condition of different flow on three phases was simulated under the take-or-pay agreement, and the ability to storage and peak-shaving was simulated when the flow was 120 X 10~-8m~3.Then main works were as follows:(1) The operation and management technology of gas pipeline was reviewed at home and abroad, and the management features of Shan-Jing pipeline,system were described.(2) The basic signification of take-or-pay agreement was described, and its key point was analyzed. The West-East gas pipeline system, emphasized on the gas quality detection system and flow metering system was introduced.(3) Some theoretical basis was described and analyzed during the gas pipeline simulation.(4) A steady and a transient mathematical model for West-East pipeline system were developed, and the corresponding solutions were studied.(5) A simulation model for West-East pipeline system was developed, and the operating condition of different flow on three phases was simulated..........(6) The ability to storage and peak-shaving was simulated and analyzed at 120 X 10~8Nm~3 flow.(7) Conclusions and future work.
