With the increasing development of society and economy, the traffic congestion isgradually becoming one of the most serious social problems. The core of traffic congestionis contradiction between travel demand and supply. Congestion on particular time andspace is an identical problem. For reducing traffic congestion, there are two aspects shouldbe considered. Firstly, increase the supply of road resources by new road construction andorigin road reconstruction. Secondly, reduce the press of road network by control traveldemand (purchase restriction, traffic restriction and congestion pricing). However, thelimitation of city space and the social resistance makes the two types of solution abovedifficult to fulfill. For a solution of this problem, many scholars came to recognize thatreal-time dynamic traffic information being provided to travelers may help them to makefull use of traffic network ability so that can effectively balance the attribution of thetime-space resource of road network and relieve the contradiction between supply anddemand in urban traffic system. In urban traffic flow guidance system, how traffic information influences the changeof traffic flow is a very complex dynamic proeess. All factors including: informationcontent, information released time, information released area, information releasefrequency etc may influce the utility of dynamic traffic information, and the operationeffect of the traffic flow guidance system. The important theoretical basis of urban trafficflow guidance system is real-time dynamic traffic assignment, while the core problem ofDTA is the research is drivers' route choice behavior. For a appropriate formulation ofnavition strategy and information release mechanism and effectively achieve the dynamicequilibrium of traffic flow in road network, it has great theoretical significance andpractical value of studing the drivers' route choice behavior under real-time dynamic trafficinformation. This research mainly relys on the national high technology research and developmentprogram (863Program)"Research and development of intelligent navigation software and application system based on dynamic information" and "Research and development ofnew generation of intelligent traffic control system". On a basis of summarising the relatedtheory and the application results at home and aboard, the paper joins an important factorof network knowledge into the drivers' route choice behavior model, so that could actuallybehave the characters of driver's roue choice behavior. The main content of this paper are asfollows:(1)Introduction. This chapter analyzes the research and application status of urbantraffic flow guidance system and advanced travelers information system at home andaborad form two aspects and draw the main purpose and significance of paper. Then theresearch framework and chapters arrangement was put forward.(2)Effectiveness evaluation of dynamic traffic information. Fistly, this chapterproposes the basic question "Whether the providing of information to drivers is inevitablereduce traffic congestion?" and carries on the comprehensive analysis of drivers' routechoice mechanism under real-time dynamic traffic information, so that demonstrates thesignificance in researching drivers' route choice behavior of real-time dynamic trafficassignment.(3) Foundations of drivers' route choice behavior analysis. Take the relatedachivement in psychology, behavior science and information economics as reference, thischapter analyzes and compares the forefront of the route choice behavior theory at homeand aboard and expounds the general idea of several important theoretical branchincluding information technology, cognition and decisong and utility theory.(4)Drivers' route choice behavior based on network knowledge. After analyzingthe related influce factors of route choice process, route choice criteria and route choicebehavior, the chapter determines the overall modeling framework, correspondingtechnology content, and research methods of drivers' route choice behavior based onnetwork knowledge.(5)Data experiment and model analysis. This chapter introduces the necessary datasources for model for evaluation, then analyzes and compares the three component part ofproposed route choice model based on network knowledge through large questionnairesurvey and macro traffic simulation method. The actual contrast results showed that: theproposed model has good theoretical significance and practical value.(6)Conclusion and prospect. This part makes a comprehensive summary, andpoints out the existing limitations of the study and the paper further research work of prospected.
