Depression Syndrome Diagnosis Standards

Objective This study is aimed to explore new good methods for study on diagnostic criteria of Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM) syndrome, build a new diagnostic criteria of TCM syndrome for depression, and develop the TCM theory on psychiatric symptoms of depression.Method (1)Analyze the advantages and disadvantages of taking syndrome types as the study unit, seek more applicable unit in study on diagnostic criteria of TCM syndrome. (2)Analyze the disadvantages of old methods to determine weight coefficient in Delphi method, considering the characteristics of diagnostic criteria of TCM syndrome, explore a new method to determine weight coefficient. (3)Analyze the shortcomings of statistical analysis used in study on diagnostic criteria of TCM syndrome, search more feasible statistical analysis method. (4)By epidemiology survey, collect data on four examination; take single syndrome as the study unit; build the initial syndrome-symptom relationship model through expert questionnaire; verify and modify the syndrome-symptom relationship model, and then develop the final syndrome-symptom relationship model through latent variable analysis; determine the diagnostic critical value by quasi ROC curve. Thus, build the diagnostic criteria of single TCM syndrome for depression. (5)Discuss the TCM pathomechanism of psychiatric symptoms of depression.Result (1)To decrease dimensions and increase syndrome types, and at the same time avoid the problem of uncertainty of syndrome types, a new study unit, single syndrome is recommended. (2)Put forward a new method, double percent method to determine symptom weight coefficient in study on diagnostic criteria of TCM syndrome with Delphi method. (3)Analyze the shortcomings of logistic regression, discriminant analysis, factor analysis, principal component analysis, cluster analysis, data mining used in study on diagnostic criteria of TCM syndrome, full model of latent variable analysis is recommended to determine the syndrome-symptom relationship and symptom weight coefficient at first time. And quasi ROC curve and prior probability method have been developed to determine the diagnostic critical value. (4)A new diagnostic criteria system of TCM syndrome for depression has been built.
