Chinese rock arts are the survivals of prehistory period. The rock arts throughout China represent the main antiques of our ancestors, the most important art text in prehistory art studying, and the new materials in the studying of ancestors'aesthetic mind. Though being widely placed, Chinese rock arts have common aesthetic characteristics. There several components express common primitive aesthetic consciousness and common China aesthetic consciousness, which are elements of figure, the characteristics of forming pictographs, the choice of motifs.The elements of Chinese rock art show distinguishing feature. The points of Chinese rock art vary according to depth, shape, technology of realism and abstract. The arrangement of points in Chinese rock art represent uneven. The points in pictogram are more convergent than petroglyph in size classes. Although there are some arrangement laws in some points of Chinese rock art, and these points always have a fixed pattern, the Chinese rock art's points emphasize symbolism and neglect decoration. The Chinese rock art's points show artistic style of abstract, abstruse, distinguished, and blunt. Among components of Chinese rock art, line is most universal. The producing technique of Chinese rock art's line can be divided into percussion, friction, scratching and painting. They show both of the effects of drawing and relieve. The shapes of Chinese rock art include beeline and curve. Curves have variable form of rotundity, arc, and ripple, snaky. The being of rock art line has two types, real line and broken line. Chinese rock art arranges its lines according to symmetry, equilibrium, repetition discipline. Compared with foreign rock arts, the lines in Chinese rock arts are plain, regular, and pithiness. Those Characters explain Chinese ancestor's aesthetic ideas that were straightforward, simple but uniform aesthetic fashion. Clump is one element of the most physical configurationally change in Chinese rock art against other elements such as point and line. It can best embody objective image. The clumps are familiar at drawing according to different deformation and are characteristics of realism, so it often describe real image. The arrangement of clumps in Chinese rock art is slightly stiff, not as flexible as lines. Clumps in Chinese rock art are realistic, simple, and energetic.Taking image is the first step in forming image of rock art. There are several disciplines in Chinese rock art's taking image. First is simplicity which include the projection technique, the part inferred whole technique and abstraction technique. Second is maximizing profile discipline which is often presented in original art. Third is part emphasized discipline that emergence as shape emphasize and location emphasize. Fourth is divergent perspective discipline that shows the lack of background and touch characteristic of rock art. Comprehensive application of these principles represent the characteristic of rock art's taking image, show primitive inhabitant thought of taking image. The motif of Chinese rocks often only consists of one figure. It has no background and mainly consists of plan management which includes three methods that are separation, contrast, arrangement. Separation is the main method of forming Chinese rock art motif. It shows ancestors reliance on various parts. Contrast in Chinese rock art focused on the facture, configuration elements and the physical size of each part. Arrangements show remarkable sense of direction, and often use lines for space interval media. Sometimes there are more than one scene will be mixed together to form a larger picture of life.Natural theme, belief theme and mind theme are three themes in China rock art. The most important differences of natural them between primitive art and other arts are spurning background, realistic and utilitarian. The belief theme of rock art can be divided into three forms which are charm, fetish, and sacrificial offering. It expresses primitive magical and worship aims. Compare to bronze of Shang Dynasty, the sacrificial style of primitive rock art is clear and plain, which is full of living circumstances. This is favored to the fact that all of people in primitive society can take part in god's mind and the activity in rock art is participative. The mind theme of rock art manifests no-fixed images that are esteeming circular form, opening body concept, and integrating human and nature.Chinese rock arts have nation character. Both of the Chinese rock art and European cave rock art belong to prehistory antique. They show similar artistic style, theme, and background, which are showed their common aesthetic significant. Simultaneity, they also express different aesthetic significant. European cave rock arts are in conspicuous magic atmosphere, though Chinese rock arts are in conspicuous live atmosphere. The authors of European cave rock arts trend complicated style, detail, which shows their precise article attitude. The authors of Chinese rock art trend simplicity, integration, which show rock art's strong abstract meaning. The difference between Chinese rock arts and European cave rock arts influence their successors. There is close relation between Chinese rock art and Chinese traditional painting. Chinese traditional painting accede Chinese rock art in five approaches that are preferring big image, favoring simple rhyme, seeing the blank as black, generalization, skeleton. Both of them prefer big image, the former indicate strength and the latter indicate ethic order and personal charm. Because of tools and Aesthetic aim, Chinese rock art is simple, innocent. Chinese traditional paintings also pursue simplicity. Chinese rock art adopt dual contrast and binary to manifest seeing blank as back technology which is the graphic bud of Chinese traditional painting theory. In the pursuit of generalization, they exhibit difference of collective common and affective personality. Chinese rock art and Chinese traditional painting is used to skeleton painting. They transcend visual perspective, and belong to touch painting. In the survival antique, Chinese rock art is the earliest source of Chinese traditional painting.The aesthetic characteristic of rock art verifies the foundational significance of aesthetic experience. Now the major interpretation of rock art is magic. Magic point is based on realism rationality and epoch character. But the rock art's images with magic interpretation show different forms and graphic aims. Chinese rock arts are accumulated image gathered record aim, emotion aim and magic aim. The completion of rock arts is not the result of logos, contrast to this, the emotion with intuitional character serve as foundation of all cognitive actions in rock arts. There are three mentality which is utilitarian rationality, artistic rationality, and involuntary invent, all of them contain aesthetic judgments. Therefore, the psychological foundation of rock art's invent is aesthetic experience.
