The Study on official was a hot spot in the study about Tang dynasty's history. In the past decades, scholars in domestic and overseas focused on this problem and worked hard. At last, they was successful. Bui the past studying mainly focused on the super officials who assumed office in the central governments or the local governments. On the contrary, the studying about fellows was scare, and also, there were some scholars who looked down on the functions of the fellows. They considered that fellow was an idle position and they even considered that it was not important so that it could be cancelled. They looked down on the role of fellows in the system of bureaucrat. As a result of this thinking, I selected this problem as my target of researching. I will try my best and I hope I can contribute to the studying about Tang dynasty's history by using Tang dynasty's documents and the epitaphs of the persons who lived in Tang dynasty. The categories of secretary in Tang dynasty were very multiple. We can differentiate it into four types:One was the secretary who worked in the prince palace. Two was the secretary who worked in the organization of army and it included the secretary sixteen Wei, the secretary of Zhe-Chong-Fu, the secretary of the army, the secretary of Shuai-Fu, the secretary of the towns which were set up in the local frontier. Three was the secretary who worked in frontier army. Four was the secretary who worked in the local governments, including the secretary who worked in Yong state and Luo state, the secretary who worked in Da-Du-Du-Fu and the secretary who worked in ordinary states. The position and function of different secretary were different owing to different times, situations and departments. In the course of studying, I discussed this problem from macro angle, and in the same time, I focused on the secretary who worked in the ordinary states because this secretary's quantity was the biggest and this secretary was factual fellow. On the basis of analysis about documents and historical materials, I draw two viewpoints:One was that the building of secretary was the most stable in the three super fellows who were secretary, Bie-Jia and Si-Ma. Two was that secretary could processed some affairs of the local states and he could supervised the major official in local state. The thesis was divided two part. The first part was divided eight chapters, focusing on multiple secretary in the whole angle and mainly researching the secretary's position and function who worked in the ordinary states. The second part was divided four forms, including the form of the secretary who worked in the palace of prince, the form of the secretary who worked in the martial organizations, the form of the secretary who worked in Yong state and Luo state and the secretary who worked in Da-Du-Du-Fu, the secretary who worked in ordinary states in Huai-nan province and Jiang-nan province.
