Research Of Characters Of Seal Of Qin

This dissertation is made of two sections. The first part is the research to the inscriptions of Seal of Qin, the second part is a compilation of the characters of Seal of Qin.First chapter introduces the situation about description and research of Seal of Qin, include decipher of Seal of Qin, confirmation of their eras, researches of geomancy about excavated place, researches of the relationship between Seal of Qin and history of Qin Dynasty, the other researches corresponding to Seal of Qin, and thinking on research of Seal of Qin, and so on. These make us comprehend unearthed description of Seal of Qin, research situation about Seal of Qin, meaning and value of research about Seal of Qin.Second chapter is the major part of this dissertation, it mainly concentrates on change of inscriptions of Seal of Qin, we studied them from different angles which include simplification & complicating, switch & variation. Among them, some components of characters are simplified, and some lined strokes are clearer, such as"中""宜""匠""新".Some inscriptions were added meaning component or ornamental strokes, such as''西""承""齐""离"etc. Furthermore, positions of structural components of character are unstable, such as"好""舒""社"etc. Or, structural components of character have changed, such as"圈""邽""旞",etc. In addition, some inscriptions have changed on forms and structures, such as "卢" "宣""麋""雝",these particular forms and structures reserved the initial style among Chinese character evolution for us, had tremendous value for research. More attention is, the newly appearance forms in Seal of Qin, as "巷", it helped us for decode forms of characters.In addition, we compared characters of Seal of Qin with "calligraphy", "seal script" and "variant Chinese character form" in "Shuo Wen Jie Zi". There is about half of characters of Seal of Qin has the same form with calligraphy in "Shuo Wen Jie Zi", it demonstrates the tendency of possessing strokes and shaped form of "calligraphy", meantime it also verify the fact that "calligraphy" really can be traced back to the character of Qin Dynasty. It stores some forms which are same with "seal script" in "Shuo Wen Jie Zi", such as"兵""秦""中"etc. As we know, "seal script" is the "big calligraphy"(史籀大篆),it is the previous incarnation of "calligraphy", these forms can help us to know the style of the character of Qin Dynasty and to realize the rule of characters development, in an opposite direction, these writing forms also supplies us the reference to judge the era of seal. Seal still store "variant Chinese character form" in "Shuo Wen Jie Zi", such as"粖""康""缓""铁","variant Chinese character form" is a different form of "calligraphy", the appearance of these writing forms can illustrate in other side that calligraphy recorded in "Shuo Wen Jie Zi" are not really the standard forms at that time,and some "variant Chinese character form" are in common usage.Third chapter is to decode Seal of Qin, although characters of seal are rather standard, but still exist characters not be explained or wrongly explained. There are few excavated LiYe Seals of Qin so that it didn't attract too much attention from experts, thus author decodes just one or two character forms in LiYe Seals of Qin, as"盐"and"陵","洞庭司马"and"酉阳丞印".Some name seals in Seal of Qin also did not attach importance in public, we distinguished and verified two name seals"上官(?)"and"新(?)".Second part, is the compilation of the characters of Seal of Qin,we allocated all inscriptions to fourteen chapters according to "Shuo Wen Jie Zi", one chapter of combined characters and one chapter of characters which remain to be verified. We totally collect 480 characters and about 10000 inscriptions; every inscription was gathered together according to the calligraphy, arranged according to the description time and supplied source and corresponding words. It supplies the most fundamental data for the further research.
