In fact, the study of the internal characteristics of settlement of historical and cultural landscape, spatial difference and its deep structure prototype can make use of other disciplines concept to have deeper research, in addition to the traditional interpretation and expression of two-dimensional space.Adopting multidisciplinary perspectives and methods to excavate, arrange, and make use of traditional settlements landscape genetic map, and then discuss about the flora of historical and cultural landscape of human settlements have a very strong cross and exploratory characteristics. It is a comprehensive research of"set of cultural landscapes, traditional settlements, genome in one"which hasn't done before. The main research content and achievements are as follows:1. Introducing the concept of biological gene, utilizing relevant method of settlement typology, a traditional settlement landscape for"gene recognition"and"gene Atlas"has been constructed. It will help us to observe and understand China traditional settlement of regularity features from the geometric plane surface type (two dimensions) and stereo-pattern structure (three dimensions). It has more effective way of deep excavation and scientific expression for settlement cultural landscape inherent elements. This research allows the settlement of cultural landscape study based on a new perspective, so as to enhance its scientific research and identification of landscape.2. Applying historical geographical methods to the process of historical and cultural analysis of settlement types, and it is actually the supplementary to current settlements (cities and towns) analysis method. The real research of current cities and towns landscape morphology, evolution and development trend can be of more help to the correct conclusion formed, only from its history starting with the analysis of morphological analysis or types. Therefore the method became the ways of the settlement geography, especially the urban geography on researching the urban patterns.3. Taking the principle of relative consistency as a leading principle of landscape of division, considering comprehensively the other principles and methods. The author attempts to have a preliminary division of the Chinese traditional settlements landscape as 3 large scale landscapes, 14 landscape regions and 76 landscape sub-regions. It is the first time to complete the nationwide division of traditional settlements landscape of fauna, which has laid the foundation for in-depth studies of geography of settlements on"settlement/geographical divisions"and cultural geography of"settlement cultural division".4. According to the concept of historical geography of"culture overlay'" and"landscape section recovery"and combining the features of historical cultural settlement landscape gene of"information memory", the author proposed the theory of"landscape information chain"based on culture heritage protection and tourism planning (that is"landscape gene chain"theory), which provided scientific theoretical basis for historical cultural village protection, tourism planning and scenic line designing.5. The structural analysis mode of"cell-chain-form", which summarized from the historical cultural settlement, can make any complex settlement decomposition and combination rapidly under the guidance of this mode and it can innovate in both the basic methods of analysis of landscape structure and type of settlement.6. The studies focus on the introduction of a geographical information system (GIS), from historical and cultural landscape gene extraction of human settlements and three dimensional landscape of data management information, carrying out the data management and settlement of historical and cultural dynamic protection and monitoring, which has richen the technical approaches for the historical and cultural settlement protection.
