This essay includes four parts which are the introduction, the six-chapter mainbody, references and the postscript.The introduction gives the realistic meaning and the theoretical significance ofthis essay in a scientific way and also gives the all over summary of the researchresults of this subject at home and abroad.Chapter One-A brief account of Wallerstein's life and his academic experiences.The formation of Wallerstein's view of time and space reflects his view of world andepistemology which closely relates his methods to do his research. And his view ofworld and his academic interests due to the historical and academic backgroud and arealso influenced by his own experiences. This chapter aims to explain the formation ofWallerstein's academic road to the readers clearly based on the relations between hisgrowing experiences and academic interests.Chapter Two-The historical background of Wallerstein's theory. Any kind ofmature theory is the production of history and ages, so is the theory on history ofhuman society. Firstly when it comes to the research subject, all historians havehistorical limitations which decides they do the research with their view of historyinfluenced by their times. Most of them try to solve the problems of their own timesand also grasp the future by studying old histories. Wallerstein's theory is alsoproduction of history and has its own background of ages and academics. In thischapter the author will make a brief introduction of the age background between theend of the Second World War and1970to explain the academic background and thereal reason that the theory of"the modern world system" is formed. This chapter alsogives a general idea of Modernization theory and Attachment theory.Chapter Three-The academic source of Wallerstein's view of time and space. Thischapter mainly analyses the significant inspire and influence of Wallerstein's view oftime and space by Marxism, Long-term theory and Theory of dissipative structure.This chapter clear out that the time and space concept structure which is thefoundation that theory of "the modern world system" is formed is the core concept oftheory of "the modern world system".Chapter Four-Wallerstein's view of time and space and world system analysis. Thischapter explains how Wallerstein finished the time and space concept structure of his own on basis of Marxism, Long-term theory and Theory of dissipative structure andalso analyses specific expression of this time and space concept in world systemanalysis.Chapter Five-The meaning of Wallerstein's view of time and space epistemology.This chapter gives four meanings of influences by this time and space view to studiesof history of social system which includes a plurality of understanding of time andspace concept, an overall understanding of world, an understanding of the complexityof world and a exceeding understanding over the difference between traditionalwestern social science and history.Chapter Six-The significant meaning of Wallerstein's view of time and spacemethodology. This chapter indicates that Wallerstein formed his own unique dynamicand Integration of disciplines methodology.
