| This paper, based on a premise that deems contemporary animal narration as a narrative typology, aims to explore the germination and construction of animal narration in Chinese literature. This study focus on the functional forms and historical roots of the special narrative typology, the animal narration. It derives from two basic dimensions ---nature of typology and origin of science, and contains contemporary animal narrative interpretations of the concept of ethics resources, narrative tradition, type of derivative, functional morphology, deep structure, the theme-pattern as well as the mythological causes etc. Meanwhile, it also discusses from the angles of the aesthetic form, the narrative morphology, the features of art to the cultural heritage, psychological structure and ethical value - this is complete and scientific research paradigm through the combination of form and content, both diachronic and synchronic and horizontal and vertical ( the historical dimension ).The ultimate target of the study is, through the animal narration, to find mankind (individual to the whole nation ) latent ethics consciousness and the idea of a side of their own thought from the origin---to give answers to one's own confusion, anxiety, distress and attempt to rescue themselves, desire to repair and perfect their ego personality and character, release themselves, indulge, recover the suppressed and distorted mind emotion, and make effort to construct the two-way morality through the human individual to national subjectivity. It is also based on the non-consciousness but with some utilitarian color emotion value appeal, which gives birth to the distinctive Chinese characteristics, and fully demonstrates the germination and construction of contemporary animal narration.Taking the aforementioned concerns into account, the body of the disseration is composed of seven parts and the introductory and concluding chapters.The Introduction chapter is a critical review of the relevant literature on animal narrations and existing studies on Chinese contemporary animal narrations, with an emphasis on the problems and the weaknesses of existing literature. Based on this review, it puts forward the research methodologies, narrative framework and the ways of reasonably applying the pertinent research methods in typology, as well as the particular significance the present research is going to yield. Of course, this part also talks about core material that typology research. This part also introduces the core texts that this typology research relies on -- 50 Contemporary Animal Narrative Works Selection and relevant standards based on detailed and clear explanation.Chapter one delimitates "the nature of animal narration", trying to propose and justify a reasonable and effective narrative typology and the value of its application for research. It first focuses on clearly distinguishing conceptual representations of two dimensions--the animal fairy tales, animal stories as well as the animal literature, animal fiction. It thus further interprets and considers the connotation and extension of the concept of "Animal Narration", especially the narrative significance of pointing. It covers narrative referent of two dimensions—writing skills and ideological content. On the basis of this, the "Animal Narration " in the expressive level showing a " fable" (by animals to metonymy human society) and "realism" (the animal's own cognitive level) , the concept characteristics and their narrative purpose of this two "classes" respectively are discussed in detail, in order to achieve a more comprehensive, subtle and profound cognition and understanding of the concept of "animal narrative".Chapter two entitled "historical heritage and typological derivative of Chinese Animal Narration" synthesizes and justifies the historical heritage and typological derivative of animal narrations from historical, comparative longitudinal dimension and discusses specific writers. The historical periods of particular relevance to the current study include the Qin and Han Dynasties, the Tang and Song Dynasties, the Yuan to Qing Dynasties and the People's Republic which witnessed the Chinese Animal Narration developed from the initial start-up rudiment period to gradually prosperity, stability and eventually leveled off to the complete narrative significance the modern style of novel and the development process of effective transition. The representative books of a lot of Chinese animal narrative history (and collection) , including" The Classic of Mountains and Rivers", "Stories of Immortals", "Extensive Records Compiled in the Taiping Years", "journey to the west", "Strange Tales of Liao-Zhai" etc. Are discussed systematically, which will be helpful for us to make the most clear and thorough understanding about contemporary animal narrative sequence of events from the dimensions of history and development.The third chapter "contemporary animal narrative story morphological studies" and fourth chapter " the theme-rheme patterns examination of Contemporary Animal Narration" are the major parts of this dissertation focusing on examining scientific and systematic form and content of Contemporary Animal Narration from the typology perspective. Based on combing, classifying and arguing the 50 animals narrative texts as material systematically, exploring the specific dimensions including character, functional morphology of the type narrative, and function distribution, arrangement and detailed interpretation under specific circumstances , which also includes the animal narrative theme, plot, narrative structure and type variation and other related research, the final conclusion is to recognize and confirm the deep structure expression of contemporary Animal Narration , and the corresponding ethical referent and value management. On this basis, narrative grammar, emotion category and presentation logic pattern of four kinds theme-rheme Mode of Contemporary Animal Narration----looking for, elegy, gratitude and ruler class—are researched fruitfully. Then find the general conclusion and the important value assessment standard that can be applied to the entire Contemporary Animal Narrative, reach implementation of a certain anti-type significance based on inherent type, and provides the important scientific basis and theoretical support for effectively creating creation of animal narrative of a new narrative mode.Chapter five "contemporary animal narrative historical root of myth", is based on the first two chapters, and focuses on studying the historical origins in terms of occurrence and origin of Animal Narration. The key point lies in response to the question"where animal narration is from?"Several important dimensions such as the search of symbol of the original myth and parent narrative multiply; related study of the two core parent theme representations of contemporary Animal Narration presented by regarding animals as the nature symbol of human being and symbol of nature; vicarious way and effective interpretation of dimensions, reality and complexity of modern body of the original animal archetype image and illusory modern animal imagery. Emotion matrix intrinsic heritage dimensions of Animal Narration, contemporary narrative characterization of regarding worshiping for animal as the emotional core of matrix, and narrative characterization of from animal's "humanization" to"nationalization". On History Research of the animal narrative Myth, it also makes the tradition our partners who help us talks to now, its ultimate point is germination and construction of Chinese thought about animal.The sixth chapter,"germination, inheritance of China animal ethics thought and contemporary narrative construction" mainly traces and combs Chinese animal internal narrative ethics and narrative construction and resources lineage work from the ethical dimension. Specifically, this chapter tries to compare Chinese and western traditions of religious theology and philosophy and cultures of two main fields of animal ethics thought from tracing to its source and resource heritage perspectives. The contrast includes its evolution, change and different values of the collision. With the twentieth century, the rise of modern western animal liberation movement and the trend of thought subverses natural animal ethics values revolutionarily. In this culture context, it involves special coping style of Chinese Animal Narrative. Especially, based on absorption and reference of precious thinking resource in the middle and Western history, Contemporary Animal Narration creation presents with Chinese characteristics, which also contain germinal, inheritance of the Chinese animal ethics thought and the efforts of contemporary narrative construction especially animal inherent ethics changed from pure the "material state " and " ecological state" dimension to extending to the" human state" within the framework of the visual field, which highlights rich ethics and humanities of the Contemporary Animal Narrative.The last chapter, "overall evaluation and reflection and criticism of Contemporary Animal Narration under typology perspective", is the conclusive part of the whole thesis. Firstly, combined with combing of Western and Chinese traditional animal ethics thought systematically in the last chapter, deepening into the emotional logic of the deep structure of animals narrative " trapped + save " and exploring narrative aim, it also reached the value reflection of Chinese thought about animal, such as politics, philosophy, ethics. On the basis, it indicates special subject characteristics and its narrative advantage of Chinese contemporary Animal Narration, as well as dual stipulation and examination of the creative subject and the artistic level. Finally the core is multiple ethical direction and judgment of value expectation of Contemporary Animal Narration, which also implies the overall judgment on and reflective criticism about contemporary animal thought and future trend. Overall, related discussion in this chapter is not only a summary of the dissertation, but also an expectation about Chinese animal narration in the future. |
