This dissertation belongs to applied translation studies. With the progress of economic and cultural globalization, the tourism industry has entered into a new era. In recent years, China has achieved sustained and rapid development of tourism. Tourism as a new growth point of national economy, its status has been confirmed increasingly significant in the role of social and economic development. In recent years, there are more and more studies on tourism translation. But most studies have focused on the C/E translation problems and methods of general tourist information. There is still a lot of space for tourist translation studies. From different perspectives, different ways, we can also dig the new materials.With the development of the tourism industry, revolution-enrichment tourism has become a major brightened focus. Revolution-enrichment tourism refers to such activities as visiting the revolutionary commemoration, monuments and studying the revolutionary spirit, learning revolutionary history, accepting revolutionary education, relaxing, and increasing knowledge and experience. It's the combination of red revolutionary spirit and the modern tourism economy with a new form of tourism. This dissertation selects the revolution-enrichment tourism publicity as study texts.As for the research perspective, from the angle of functionalism, this dissertation firstly illustrates relative theories of functionalism; then compares the different features and styles of tourist materials between Chinese and English, and analyzes the specialty of revolution-enrichment tourism publicity; then using the functional translation standard---adequacy as a measurement of translation version, analyzes the existing translation errors of tourist materials; Finally, with Jinggang Mountain as a case study, tentatively discusses some practical and feasible functional translation methods and techniques. The specific questions discussed are as follows:1)In practical translation, is the functional translation method superior to other methods?2)What are the text types, text functions and translation principles of revolution-enrichment tourist material? What's the use of translation brief? 3)What are the different features and styles between Chinese and English tourist materials? What is specialty of revolution-enrichment tourist publicity?4)How to assess the quality of translation? Which kind of mistakes are there in revolution -enrichment tourist translation versions?5)How about the current status of revolution-enrichment tourist publicity translation in Jinggang Mountain? How to use functional translation methods to solve the existing translation problems of revolution-enrichment tourist publicity in Jinggang Mountain?The main point of view and conclusion are as follows:1)Functional theories emphasize that translation, being dynamic, is a kind of "communicative interaction" and "cross-cultural activities" with multi-agents, which will broaden the vision of the translator from the cultural level, and enhance the translation purpose, flexibility and diversity when adopting the translation strategies. Translation is a practical style with the primary purpose of transmitting information, but also focusing on the practical effects of information transfer. In the process of translation, the translators would be most likely to take into account the culture norms in target language and the expectations of the reader, thus often do more adjustments and modifications to ensure the realization of providing information and educating audience. Therefore, in the practical translation, the functional translation methods are certainly better than the other methods.2)The genre of revolution-enrichment tourist publicity can be classified to the text type with informative and vocative functions. One text function is transmitting information, the other is inducing action. The translation principle of revolution-enrichment tourist translation is the Skopos rule and the coherence rule. Each task comes with a translation brief to illustrate the particular environment of each translation version. In translation, the translation brief plays an important role.3)There are different features between Chinese and English tourist materials. First, Chinese and English are different in word collocation, sentence structure, writing style and cultural contents; second, between Chinese and English tourist materials, the functional distribution and the way to achieve the function are very different, with the informational function as the major while vocative as minor function. However, description and expression accounts for a greater proportion in Chinese tourist text, while in the English tourist text, information, induction and recommendation are relatively more of them. Although both text types are same, the way to achieve these functions is different. The focus of information, description and implementation of induction are greatly different. As a kind of tourist information, revolution-enrichment tourist publicity are highly narrative, more political, and with rich cultural connotation.4)When discussing translation, translation quality is always the priority. Translation standards have always been different. Revolution-enrichment tourist publicity translation adopt functionalist assessment criterion---adequacy. Within this measurement, the revolution-enrichment tourist publicity translation errors mainly exist in three areas: pragmatic, cultural and linguistic level.5)With the boom of revolution-enrichment tourism, the revolution-enrichment tourist translation is not optimistic in Jinggang Mountain. Translation errors are common, which is a pressing problem. From the functionalist perspective, using the functional translation methods and techniques, the translation quality can be improved.From the functionalist perspective, a series of tourist translation problems are discussed. This dissertation uses new materials as text analysis, researches the features of revolution-enrichment tourist publicity and translation problems, to a certain extent being innovative and valuable. But the study for such problems as the possible ways to revolution-enrichment tourist translation and referential English translation versions are not in enough depth. How to fully and best translate the revolution-enrichment tourist publicity, how to come up with unified standards, how to determine the standard translation version, etc. are also worth further study.
